We were lucky to catch up with Tosin Opaleke recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tosin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally was in 2007 when I was just 10 years old. It all started in my church—Rhema Chapel International Churches HQ in Ilorin, Nigeria. I had auditioned to be the MC for the Children’s Day service, and that moment changed everything for me.
After the service, I started getting booked for children’s parties, and soon after, I made my first N500 from hosting an event. That was the moment it clicked for me—this was not just something I enjoyed, but something I could turn into a career. It was such an exciting and defining experience.

Tosin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the events and entertainment industry at a young age—10 years old, to be exact. My career journey started when I auditioned to be the MC for the Children’s Day service at my church, Rhema Chapel International Churches HQ in Ilorin, Nigeria, in 2007. That opportunity led to me hosting children’s parties, and after earning my first N500 from hosting, I realized this could be a career.
Over time, my passion grew into something much bigger, leading me to host over 400 weddings, countless concerts, and corporate events, and standup comedy. I have recorded three comedy specials and embarked on two local comedy tours and an international stand-up comedy tour in 2019. I am also an actor.
In terms of services, I offer event hosting, MCing, comedy performances, and creative advertising solutions. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, comedy show, or even a virtual experience, I bring energy, humor, and professionalism that keep audiences engaged and satisfied. I also run Afrocomedy Club TX, which I founded in 2024 to create a space for diverse comedic voices in Texas.
What sets me apart is my genuine connection with audiences, honed over years of experience. I tailor each performance to meet the unique needs of clients, making sure their event is memorable and impactful. Additionally, I offer virtual entertainment services, which I mastered during the COVID-19 pandemic, hosting weddings, birthday parties, and a weekly comedy show via Zoom and Instagram Live.
One of the things I’m most proud of is my ability to adapt and expand my creative reach. From event hosting to comedy and advertising, I’ve built a brand around versatility, creativity, and reliability. For anyone considering working with me, what you’ll get is someone deeply committed to your event or project’s success, with a track record of professionalism, humor, and a touch of uniqueness.
At the end of the day, my goal is to leave my clients and audiences feeling fulfilled, entertained, and connected.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, there is definitely a mission driving my creative journey. I believe strongly in incremental growth and the different phases of my career, and I’m motivated by the desire to show younger kids in the community I grew up in that it is possible to move up in life regardless of where we come from. I want to be living proof that with determination, passion, and persistence, you can create your own path and achieve success. For me, it’s about demonstrating that growth is a step-by-step process, and you don’t have to start big to dream big.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One story that illustrates my resilience is how I’ve navigated various phases of my career. After graduating high school, I decided to embark on a bold endeavor at age 16 by launching the “Let The Students Laugh Comedy Tour.” It was a high school comedy tour that gave me the opportunity to engage with young audiences and push my craft forward. Not long after, I took another risk by hosting the first-ever one-man comedy show in Ilorin, Nigeria, a huge milestone in my career.
I was also one of the first comedians in Nigeria to record a comedy special, which set me apart in a growing industry. At 21, I took my comedy internationally, embarking on a tour that stretched beyond borders, an experience that deepened my understanding of diverse audiences.
In 2020, I faced new challenges when I founded CS Media NG, a creative communication and advertising agency, during a time when the world was shifting. Despite the odds, I grew it into a full-service agency that now services five countries.
Then came another leap—I moved to the U.S. and after a year, started Afrocomedy Club TX in 2024, creating a platform for diverse comedic voices. One of my proudest moments was selling out the Bishop Arts Theatre when I staged my show AGREE TO DISAGREE, further proving to myself that resilience, no matter where you are, can lead to growth and success.
Every step has had its challenges, but each has made me more determined to keep moving forward.
