We recently connected with Christa Harris and have shared our conversation below.
Christa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Photography is something I’ve loved since I was a child and as I got older, the love only grew. I knew it was right that I make a living from it. When I decided to take photography seriously as a career, I was working a job that I didn’t love and I didn’t know what was next for me. I was frustrated and scared because I didn’t know anything about starting a business. All I knew was that I loved photography and wanted to do it for a living. I knew it would be a worthwhile endeavor because I knew I had the talent, passion, the work ethic, and resources that I needed to make it happen. So The Blüm Gallery was born and it’s been a journey since!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As the founder of The Blüm Gallery, I am a portrait, lifestyle, and concert photographer driven by a passion for telling authentic stories. Photography became my craft because I believe in capturing people as they truly are, without forcing them to overthink poses, locations, or other aspects of the photoshoot process. My clients simply show up, and I guide them through each step, taking the stress out of the process so they can enjoy the moment.
In addition to that, what also sets me apart is my unique, creative approach to each session, where I prioritize individuality and work closely with my clients to bring their stories to life in ways that resonate with them. Watching my clients’ confidence grow and seeing their personalities shine through my lens has been incredibly rewarding. I am proud of the growth I’ve experienced personally and professionally, as well as the strong connections I’ve built along the way.
The Blüm Gallery represents growth, beauty, and the transformation each person experiences throughout life. I chose this name to reflect the spirit of my work—capturing the authentic beauty and unique journey of each person I photograph. Through my lens, I hope to reveal the beauty, resilience, and individuality that make each of us extraordinary.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is having an outlet, a way to express yourself and something that you can get lost in. It’s beautiful to be able to get lost in your art while finding your way back to yourself. Having the ability to make something out of nothing is such a beautiful and rewarding feeling.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think non-creatives will struggle to understand the risk that creativity requires. The willingness to give up comfort and safety for something that you believe in so deeply is usually so misunderstood by non-creatives.
