Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kimberly Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kimberly , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
I am a very spiritual person and believe the universe, source, God, love – is always working for us. My first job in the field of social work and mental health was a testament to this. I had just moved in with my parents to save money during graduate school, planning to get my Masters in Social Work. Within a week of being there the repair man for their water heater was super friendly. He found out I was job hunting and said “Go to Morningstar Boys Ranch. My daughter works there and I know they are hiring.” I dropped in two days later, interviewed on the spot and had a job. I had NO interest in working with teenagers and was terrified as I started but found that I loved it. The resiliency of those young men, living in a residential program, working through past traumas and trying to heal. It was an honor to be a part of their process and to this day teens are one of my favorite groups to work with. I love that they are tackling their healing process way sooner than I did.

Kimberly , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a licensed clinical social worker in both Oregon and Texas. More than that I am an intuitive healer. My passion is helping people overcome trauma, neglect, and breaking free from the cycles that have held them back.
Most of us live disassociated from our heart and body – stuck in our mind as a way to survive. But we don’t realize healing is found by reconnecting to heart and body. Becoming realigned. I founded Heart, Body, Mind to walk people thru this process of reconnecting with themself so they are able to life the life they dream of.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A large part of my passion for this work comes from personal experience. I suffered from severe depression and anxiety for decades. It was framed within my family as genetic and just the way we were. The reality however was it stemmed from childhood trauma and emotional neglect. Being able to face that; work thru the past, learn to care for myself and my nervous system changed my life. I have joy, hope, and peace where I didn’t before. And when life is difficult I know I have the power to make choices and to meet the difficulty head on. I want my clients to experience the same shift. Out of survival mode and into a life they can enjoy.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I would definitely choose the same specialty again, I just think I would want to …..learn what I know now faster. Working within the mental health system; often your hands are tied by insurance or politics. And the most effective modalities that lead to healing are not taught in school. They are add ons, options that the clinical world rarely talks about. I am SO grateful to have discovered them over the past 5 years and I wish they had been openly shared with me 20 years ago. I wish they were openly shared with all clinicians in graduate school. That we were required to receive them ourselves. The mental health crisis would not be what it is now if that were the case.
