We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jess. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jess below.
Jess, appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
Twenty Sides Podcast “began” about 3 years ago, when our group of friends decided to take playing Dungeons and Dragons online and turn it into an actual play, story driven podcast (with amazing audio) for others to enjoy. Of course, we all would have loved to have started this journey together much sooner, however we started playing online during the pandemic, and so inorder to have the best audio and product possible, it was important for us to be able to record inperson together. When we first started playing, our lives and careers had all been upended somewhat, and so there was no way for us to homeschool our kids, while working from home, plus being responsible by social distancing and wearing a mask (effecting the audio). We are just really glad that the podcast started at all because it seems so few dreams become reality, and every day we are taken aback by the love and support Twenty Sides Podcast receives.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I, Jess, am apart of Twenty Sides Podcast. We are a fast paced, story driven, actual play Dungeons and Dragons podcast and more. Our main campaign (or story) is available to listen to on every podcast platform and YouTube. We release an episode once a week (usually Monday) and it’s about 30 to 45 minutes long, so perfect for those downtown Nashville commutes! We also have several side campaign podcasts available to members of our Patreon that release weekly or biweekly. We are so proud of our accomplishments! We are approaching 100k downloads this month, and out of 191 ratings across Apple and Spotify, we average 4.9 out of 5 stars! We have appeared in the Top 25 on Apple Games Charts and in the Top 160 on Apple Leisure Charts! We are active on social media to answer questions about Twenty Sides Podcast, Dungeons and Dragons, or podcasting in general, and love to support our local gaming stores and attend cons.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me personally, I love that our group of friends were able to take a hobby and turn it into something for others to enjoy, not just locally in Middle Tennessee, but all over the country and the world as far as Australia! It has been so rewarding to have listeners reach out and tell us how much they enjoy the podcasts, or that they have fashioned their characters or part of their campaign after us!

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
There are so many ways for people to support artists and creatives for little to no cost. For Twenty Sides Podcast, we ask that you give us a listen on your favorite podcast platform or YouTube. Then rate, review, and subscribe to our podcast feed so you’re getting the newest episodes on release day. You can follow us on your favorite socials for news and updates, and for as little as $5 a month can become a member of the Twenty Sides Patreon. We also will open our merch store to sell t-shirts, hoodies, all kinds of things!
