Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda Layton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Amanda thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
I love to write and have always had a talent for it! At 19, one of my many personal essays was published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tough Times for Teens. (It’s published under my maiden name “Yancey” and is featured first out of 101 stories.)
Helping other people tell their stories, however, is what brings me the most joy!
My freelance writing career started with editing college application essays for people. One client I worked with got accepted into BYU Law School with a killer personal essay I helped polish up! The dean even admitted that it was one of the best essays he’d ever read!
I wondered if anyone needed help writing their wedding vows or speech?
I mentioned this question to my wedding planner friend, Lindsey, who immediately posted this on a Facebook wedding group:
“Hey Ladies! I have a friend who is a killer writer. She has started helping people write/polish up their wedding vows. I can tell you I’ve never heard vows as good as hers!”
Within an hour or so we got 60+ responses!
That’s when I knew that I finally discovered my niche and how Lovely Letters by Amanda was created!
I can honestly say that nothing quite beats the joy I feel when someone tells me, “You literally took everything I wanted to say and made it sound good!”

Amanda , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I help stressed-out couples who want a meaningful wedding ceremony write custom wedding vows! I also help write Maid of Honor, Best Man, and Parent Speeches!
What sets me apart from the competition is that I care beyond the wedding day. Yes, I want the bride and groom to sound good, but I also want to equip them with convicting vows that will encourage them during a hard day of marriage.
When it comes to wedding speeches I’m pretty honest with my clients about what should and shouldn’t be in a speech. I know what the audience wants to hear and I know how to sift through all the information a client has given me and know how to tell a compelling story that honors the married couple!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to help people authentically share their heart and wow the crowd!

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I knew about HoneyBook earlier! It’s a fantastic client management and project management platform for small businesses and creative entrepreneurs. It truly makes my life so much easier! I love all the Automations.
