URSULA, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

When I was young I witnessed my grandmother be in an abusive relationship. She used to tell me how she lost herself throughout the years. When I was around eight years old she left him after being married for over thirty years. She was not only physically, but mentally abused. Every day she and my parents would tell me how beautiful I was and never let anyone else tell me any different. Those words have been instilled in me for life and I promised her, my parents, and myself that I would never let anyone make me think any less of myself. The strength that my grandmother showed by leaving a situation even though she experienced that type of treatment all of her adult life. I will always admire her strength and self-determination to be an example for her children and grandchildren. When I face obstacles in life I always remind myself of what my grandmother and parents taught me I am beautiful, smart, and confident, and for me to never think any less of myself. I have made it a priority to tell my daughter, family, students, clients, and mentees as often as possible that they are B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. and never think any less of themselves no matter who tells them they are any less.

URSULA, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Ursula Clark, the founder of I AM B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. FUTURE QUEENS. I am also a 1st-grade teacher, therapist, and radio personality Queen Ursula on 107.9 THE BEAT the #1 R&B and Hip-Hop station in the market in all of South Georgia and North Florida. The program is offered at Valdosta High School, Sallas Mahone Elementary, S.L. Mason Elementary, and Newbern Middle School, among other Valdosta City Schools institutions. By working together, we can make sure that our young ladies are prepared to face the difficulties in life that we are forced to face.

B-Beautiful E-Excellent A-Amazing U-Unique T-Talented I-Intelligent F-Fabulous U-Unstoppable L-Leader. is the abbreviation for B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. Through a planned, progressive sequence of excellent learning opportunities and activities, I AM B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. helps young adults and adolescents overcome the problems of adolescence and young adulthood while promoting their social, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being. As they develop the skills to guide others and themselves on a course of action, the young ladies take part in enrichment activities, virtual chat sessions, community service, and 1:1 mentorship, among other activities. They also learn how to assess their advantages and disadvantages, create goals for their personal and professional lives, and develop the self-assurance and self-worth necessary to follow through on these objectives.

Being the mother of such a wonderful girl makes me proud. Regarding achievements, I am honored to be a part of the illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Chi Gamma Omega Chapter. Regarding education, I take great pride in being the first person in my family to earn a college degree. This is incredibly important to me because it shows that several generational curses have been broken.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn that everyone is not for you being successful. I also had to realize that no matter how long you’ve known someone, they don’t always desire what’s best for you.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

I don’t simply have one dream job; I have two. I made the decision to switch from teaching to therapy in the summer of 2023. Making sure that people’s mental health is at its strongest has always been a passion of mine. In the summer of 2024, I learned that I could have multiple careers. I am living proof that you can be anything you want even if it require me to have two careers.
