We were lucky to catch up with Augusta Willimon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Augusta thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My Mission as the owner of the Mile High Stompers Dance Team is to have a Team where friends truly become Family & to make memories together that will last a lifetime. I feel that everyone should have a safe place where the can come & do something they love! For me my safe space growing up was Dance, growing up I sometimes felt left out by others so when I was deciding what I wanted to do for a living I knew I wanted to pursue a career where I could share my love & passion with others especially our youth. At my Studio, I strive to have a positive & welcoming environment for everyone to perform & share their passions together as ONE BIG TEAM!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, my name is Augusta Willimon & I am the Director & Owner of the Mile High Stompers Dance Studio in Six Mile, SC. I am 23 years old, I work Full Time running my Dance Studio & Dance Team & when I’m not at the studio you can find me spending times with my friends & family. I have been Clogging for 18 years & truly don’t know where I’d be without it. Dance has changed my life in so many ways that I am so grateful for. I knew when I was deciding what my next steps were for dance that I wanted to continue my passion for dance by teaching others in my community. I started the Mile High Stompers dance team in August of 2021 & Opened my studio in August of 2022. My Team is now a 5x National Champion Clogging Team of All Ages that compete all around the U.S. doing what we love together as One Huge Family. I specialize in teaching Clogging to all & running my National Champion Clogging Team and I love every single minute of it. One of the things I am most proud of is the amazing team that I started. They have accomplished so many outstanding achievements together & it truly has been such an awesome experience to be able to guide these young dancers into their dance careers.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
The Best way to maintaining a High Morale while running a team is staying true to who you are and not changing for anyone. When running your own team, times can often get hard & stressful but stay true to your beliefs through those times. In those times, don’t let the stress show, pray about ALL decisions to help relieve your worries.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
One of the Best ways that I have gained team members has been using my social media platforms to get my name out there! By sharing posts about our team activities, competitions, performances, & business offers on my platforms, it has helped me to reach different audiences all over the states! I highly recommend staying active on your social media accounts to help promote your business!
