We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sydni Cook. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sydni below.
Sydni, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.
The best boss I ever had was Stone Stafford, who hired me as an intern at Icon Studios when I was just 17. Working there from 2019 to 2020, I had the incredible opportunity to learn about the music business firsthand. Stone entrusted me with filing studio records and managing various business tasks, which was a significant responsibility that I truly appreciated. His trust in me not only taught me a lot about organization and professionalism but also gave me the confidence to tackle challenges head-on.
Interning at Icon Studios was transformative; it opened up a world of connections in the music industry that I still rely on today. Stone also encouraged my musical growth—while I managed tasks behind the desk, I was able to practice guitar, piano, and production. This blend of practical experience and creative freedom not only enhanced my skills but also solidified my passion for music. I am incredibly grateful for Stone’s mentorship; this internship changed my life in ways I never imagined!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, I’m Sydni Cook, a 22-year-old musician with a lifelong passion for writing music and performing. I’ve nurtured my skills over the years to create heartfelt and relatable songs, writing feels like therapy to me and I can only hope that people who listen to my songs feel the same way!
As a solo artist, I tailor each performance to connect with my audience, whether in intimate settings or larger venues. What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity and storytelling in my music. I want my audiences to feel seen and heard, leaving each show inspired. I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built within the music community, and I look forward to continuing this journey together.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I was in elementary school I was badly bullied. This is a story that a couple of years ago I wouldn’t have told – it feels right to do so. This group of girls took me out to the playground and wound up putting me in a body lock, took off my shoes throwing them over the fence, poked me with sticks and hit me, finally putting a plastic sandwich bag into my mouth covering my nose trying to suffocate me. These girls literally tried to kill me. During this time in my life i was bullied badly for ‘talking too much’ for ‘being annoying’ etc. so when they put this bag in my mouth attempting to suffocate me they told me ‘maybe now you’ll finally shutup’. I think me continuing my music career years after this fact is a great example of resiliance. Even though these people tried to silence me – and for years they tried not just this instance alone – i continued. and i still continue. I cant wait till i make it big and these girls see me on their television, on their social media and see they could not shut me up.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I absolutely love creating a song that I love, especially when I play the song for people and they let me know how much they love the song too – better yet when I can SEE how much the song I wrote affects them.
