We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brandon Brooks a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
One of the most meaningful projects I’ve been a part of is my work with Downtown Locker Room (DTLR). DTLR is more than just a brand—it’s deeply woven into the cultural fabric. From staying ahead of the latest fashion trends to supporting local music artists, DTLR has played a significant role in the community for as long as I can remember. Growing up, it was the store my parents took me to for school shoes, birthday gifts, and Christmas shopping.
Now, at 26, walking into a DTLR store and seeing my face on the screens is a surreal and rewarding experience. It feels like a full-circle moment. I was once the kid looking up at the posters and displays, and now I’m the person on them. It’s an incredible reminder of how far I’ve come.
I also want to give a special thanks to Lana Rae, who made this full-circle moment possible!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Brandon, I’m 26 years old, and I’m a model from Baltimore, Maryland. My journey into modeling began in April 2023, thanks to a family friend, Lisa Parker, an incredibly talented celebrity and movie set hairstylist. At a family event, Lisa took a genuine interest in me. That day, I wasn’t wearing my usual braids, and she saw potential in me. She asked if I’d ever considered modeling. I admitted I’d thought about it but had no idea where to start. Lisa generously offered to set up a photoshoot for me on an upcoming weekend, and that was my first real step into the industry.
Today, I offer a range of services to my clients, including photoshoots, content creation, and runway events. I approach each project with positive energy and a strong “let’s get it done” attitude.
What I’m most proud of is simply starting my journey in modeling. Initially, it felt like a big leap, but it’s been a rewarding challenge, pushing me out of my comfort zone in the best way possible. I want people to know that I’ve always been a dreamer and a risk-taker, and I’m thrilled to be living my dream in real time.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes. My goal is to get picked up by a mother agency and the to a bigger agency. I really enjoy high fashion and I can’t wait to walk the runway in Europe for fashion week.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is transforming the dreams and ideas in my head into reality—taking something intangible and shaping it into art
