We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jared Davis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jared, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I’ve learned so much by observing creatives who are more advanced in skill and experience. A lot of my growth has come from trial and error, along with soaking up knowledge from various Instagram and TikTok resources. Many people say you need formal education for certain careers, but I believe you can learn just as much—if not more—by being in the right environment and connecting with the right people.
If I could do it over, I would dedicate countless hours to acquiring key information in my craft. I would reach out to more creatives, just to be in the same room and absorb everything I could. I’d also take on more free projects to build my network and boost my skills and confidence earlier on.
One of the most essential skills is really understanding your camera and how to operate it in various scenarios, along with mastering lighting. I used to struggle with receiving constructive criticism and was often too hard on myself when my work didn’t feel perfect.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Jared Davis, but a lot of people know me as Jey4Tymes. I’m the founder of Jetflix Productions, where we turn creative visions into reality—whether it’s through high-quality photography, cinematic videography, or event coverage. My journey into this industry started with a passion for storytelling and capturing real moments, which led me to work on everything from high fashion shoots with Ebony magazine to being a camera operator for major gospel tours. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping clients create lasting memories, from couples celebrating life milestones to athletes wanting to showcase their talents.
What sets Jetflix apart is our ability to go beyond just taking photos or shooting videos. We craft experiences. Whether it’s a couple wanting a romantic pumpkin patch shoot or a business needing a full cinematic video, I bring an artistic touch that truly captures the heart of each moment. I’m most proud of being able to help people feel seen and valued through my work. When clients trust me with their vision, I make sure it’s brought to life in a way that’s authentic and impactful.
For anyone thinking about working with me, I want them to know that I’m all about building connections and creating a vibe. I’m dedicated to delivering top-tier results while making sure the process is smooth, fun, and tailored to their needs. Whether you need standout photos, a cinematic recap of a special event, or something entirely unique, I’m here to make it happen.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In my view, society can best support artists and creatives by fostering a culture that values both the process and the product of creativity. First, education plays a huge role—creating spaces where young people are encouraged to explore the arts and develop their talents early on. This means more funding and opportunities in schools and community programs that help unlock creative potential.
Beyond that, we need to create platforms that actually compensate artists fairly for their work. Whether it’s through stronger copyright protections, fair wages, or even more accessible grants and sponsorship opportunities, it’s crucial to recognize the value of creative work in the same way we do other industries. Supporting local artists, sharing their work, and using social media to amplify their voices can also go a long way in helping creatives thrive.
Lastly, as a society, we should normalize the idea that the arts are not just a hobby but a legitimate, impactful career. If we view artists not just as creators but as essential contributors to culture and innovation, we’ll start to see the creative ecosystem thrive. Everyone wins when the arts are seen as a valuable and necessary part of life.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by a clear vision: to become a renowned celebrity creative, producing high-impact content for celebrities and working with top-tier brands on spec ads that truly elevate their image. Beyond that, I’m focused on building a strong, engaged community on YouTube with over a million subscribers, where I can share my craft, inspire others, and continue pushing the boundaries of creativity. Everything I do is aligned with that mission—to not only make a name for myself in the industry but to create content that resonates on a global scale.
