We recently connected with Marissa Cooper and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Marissa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you manage your own social media?
Being a media production company it only makes sense to manage my own social media account. The reason for this choice is that it helps me to be in tune with the latest trends and developments in order to make attention grabbing content for my clients. The results that I have seen is that not only do I get engagement on posts, but IRL (in real life). I receive many comments and compliments on how engaging my social media is and how it connects with others. What I have learned that it really pays for brands to be their authentic self. People nowadays want to connect with brands and businesses where they can relate to the people that are in front of the camera. I know that being in front of the camera intimidates a lot of people, but that vulnerability can really go a long way. People want to know the personality behind the products they invest in. My biggest piece of advice to business owners that are just starting to build their social media presence is to go in with the mindset that the content you create will not be perfect. You will grow and alway be refining your voice and style of your content.
Marissa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Marissa and I own Cooper Productions which is a Denver-based commercial video production company that believes connections are made through our shared stores.
Growing up I always had a passion for motion. I would direct and create cringe-worthy short films with my friends that we would premiere in front of our parents. As I grew up I knew I wanted to incorporate video in my professional life, but wasn’t sure how. I wasn’t really into the story of moving to Hollywood and chasing my dream that way. I ended up attending the University of Northern Colorado on a soccer scholarship and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing. After graduation, I practiced marketing at an e-learning science company, landscape design-build firm, and a world-renowned real estate agency. What sets me a part from others is my background in marketing and it goes hand in hand with video production. I like to say that I can make a beautiful video, but if it doesn’t meet the businesses marketing goals or distribution strategy, I am not doing my job as video producer.
What I want potential clients/followers/fans to know is that I work hard to deliver high-quality video content and that I like to make the video production process a seamless and enjoyable experience. I am willing to go the extra mile for my clients to exceed expectations. I am so proud of the clients that I have worked with, risks that I have taken, and growth that has happened since the inception of Cooper Productions. My accomplishment that I am most proud of is completing my first out-of-country shoot in England back in March.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
One thing that I love about this craft and business is the opportunity to connect with people that I otherwise wouldn’t have had the opportunity to connect with. I have also become fulfilled in the content that I create for my brand. I genuinely have so much fun creating it and that joy solidifies that I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what helped me build my reputation within my market is consistency, vulnerability, and authenticity. I have been committed to continuing to attend networking events to connect with individuals within and outside of my industry. I plan on continuing to make engaging social media content where I am in front of the camera speaking to my audience about my experience, expertise, and more. I have also had a great support network who have been brand champions and have set the foundation for where I am today.
