We were lucky to catch up with Peter Stewart recently and have shared our conversation below.

Peter , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

Who would have thought that losing my job as a flight attendant would lead me to discover my true calling? After hitting rock bottom, I dusted off my old housekeeping skills and turned them into a thriving business.

I started by offering private residential cleaning services, building a reputation for my meticulous attention to detail and passion for creating clean, comfortable spaces. Over the years, I’ve expanded my services, worked for the Postal Service, and even returned to the skies as a flight attendant.

But my heart has always been in cleaning. It’s more than just a job; it’s a way to help others and make a positive impact on their lives. My OCD-like tendencies ensure that every space is spotless, and I take pride in providing a luxury-level cleaning experience.

Starting a business from scratch wasn’t easy, especially without a formal business education. But with hard work, dedication, and a lot of trial and error, I’ve built a successful cleaning company. Five years later, I’m grateful for the freedom and flexibility it’s given me. It’s been a wild ride, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

One book that significantly shaped my entrepreneurial mindset is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Introduced to me by the renowned prosperity coach Bob Proctor, this book became a guiding light, much like a spiritual text. Its teachings have profoundly influenced my understanding of manifestation and personal growth.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

To launch my cleaning business, I initially relied on a combination of self-funding and capital secured through my credit card processing company. I also explored potential investor partnerships, but unfortunately, my efforts to secure external funding were unsuccessful at the startup stage – as I had no idea of who would be interested in funding Spotless Clean by Peter, other than myself.
