Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Creative Artista. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Creative , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Often the greatest growth and the biggest wins come right after a defeat. Other times the failure serves as a lesson that’s helpful later in your journey. We’d appreciate if you could open up about a time you’ve failed.
Failure is something I used to fear. Not anymore. Why?
It’s not an option. I always tell to anybody that’s listening that “I’m still here, putting in the work!”
Failure defines the lack of success. That lack of success term doesn’t define me. I’ve come across roadblocks that prevented me from reaching my goals. I got past those roadblocks by knocking them down each time they were put up.
When I started my career in the design industry in 2008, I was privileged and lucky enough to have a mentor who guided me through my design career. Personally, that’s the biggest win for me was my mentor who was in the industry for 20 years and believed I could excel far in the design industry when I was clouded with self-doubt.
After I departed from the company I spent 8 years at.
I accomplished the following
– Winning design competitions
– Received appreciation awards
– Became an entrepreneur
– Gain appreciation and respect from my fellow peers
Remember it’s okay to fail at your goals. Pick yourself back up once that happens. Surround yourself with peers who believe in you!
I’m just getting started. Failure comes with the package. Every day I’m learning to be the best version of myself. Remember PASSION always wins because it goes a long way in your career.
Creative , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My artist’s name is the Creative Artista.
I was born and raised in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St Paul), Minnesota.
My journey started when I was five years old. Growing up, I was heavily inspired by video games, anime, and professional wrestling (WWF/WWE). I remember picking up the Super Mario Bros. (NES) cartridge, looking at it for hours, and sketching random characters and objects in my notebook. I knew instantly I wanted to create something with video games and anime. I make video games and anime-inspired vaporwave (futuristic) art with fun colors. I bring an 80’s retro vibe into my pieces.
In January 2025 I will celebrate 17 years as a visual and pixel artist in the industry.
I’m most proud of the respect and support I get from my peers and clients. I create my art with love and passion.
My clients get the best version of The Creative Artista.
Any advice for managing a team?
Do your best to stay positive around your team. We don’t get enough “thank yous!” in this world. I always do my best to uplift my peers around me. When something goes wrong communicate with your team. It goes a long way and it makes your job easier.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Word of mouth. The more I put myself out there in the world. The more people will recognize my artwork.
As I mentioned before in a question, having passion goes a long way.
Once you hit that “PRESS START” button the world will know about your creativity and talents. That’s what builds a reputation around your brand.
