We were lucky to catch up with Jenny Law recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jenny thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Talk to us about building a team – did you hire quickly, how’d you recruit the first few team members? Any interesting lessons?
When I started as a solo agent, it was clear that as my business grew, I needed a team to keep up. I wanted to offer my clients top-notch support 24/7. So, I brought on licensed assistants to help out. My goal was simple: make sure clients get the best service possible. A unique part of The Jenny Law Group is that it’s made up entirely of women. I’m passionate about empowering women in a male-dominated industry. I wanted to create opportunities for women to learn, grow, and succeed in real estate.
A clear mission and vision are crucial when building a team. For me, it’s not just about making money; it’s about having a shared purpose. The Jenny Law Group focuses on more than just closing deals. We’re all about staying educated on the market and helping clients make smart investment choices. Knowledge about the economy and market trends helps us do just that.
When it comes to recruiting, I don’t use job boards like Indeed or ZipRecruiter. Instead, I rely on my social media network, which is full of industry pros and real estate fans. I usually post on Instagram and Facebook when I’m looking for new agents. I look for people with strong work ethics and a proactive attitude. I prefer agents with a proven track record of at least $5 million in sales from the past year.
Social media is key for building a brand. I recommend mixing personal and business content. It’s important for clients to see who they’re working with I’ve found. I use Instagram Stories for personal glimpses and my Grid for professional updates. This balance helps build trust and connect with clients.
When it comes to team structure, clearly defined roles keep things running smoothly. I make sure my team is always working and earning, even if they don’t have their own clients. I don’t want anyone to stop working. If they don’t have their own business, I assign them projects to enhance the service provided to my clients. This setup includes a transaction coordinator and licensed assistants who handle various tasks. As they gain experience, they might move into new roles.
Training is a big part of my approach. Our weekly meetings are a chance to review deals and update on industry trends. Understanding market trends helps us guide clients better. We also have monthly meetings to keep everyone in the loop about new policies and market trends.
My goal is to help my agents become so successful that they eventually start their own businesses. I support their growth by involving them in networking events and providing advanced training. In a volatile market, having a knowledgeable team is crucial. We stay successful by helping clients make smart decisions. I’ve found. It’s important for team leaders to ensure their teams understand local and economic trends to help clients navigate the market. Looking ahead, I plan to keep expanding the team with a focus on education and client satisfaction. “Knowledge is power,” I believe. We’ll continue growing, but our core values of education and client service will stay the same.
Building a successful real estate team means having a clear vision, empowering your agents, and focusing on great client service. My approach combines education, client satisfaction, and women’s empowerment. By recruiting experienced agents, providing ongoing training, and fostering a strong team environment, we thrive. For those looking to build a similar team, remember: a shared mission and purpose are key to success.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Almost 100% of my business comes from referrals, repeat clients or people who recognize my brand. I have been lucky enough to have a continuous influx of business without looking for cold leads. A part of the reason for this in my opinion is due to the fact that I treat my clients with sincerity and offer them educated/effective advice on how to navigate their real estate decisions. I treat each transaction with 100% dedication to my clients and often times, my clients become long-term friends who refer their friends and family to me as well. In addition to providing exceptional service and maintaining contact with my sphere, I also continuously learn and adapt my business practices to the always changing market.
Any advice for managing a team?
I believe that happiness is what drives people. I always maintain a positive working atmosphere and be the support that my team needs when they run into hiccups or need advice. I also ensure that everyone on my team is always working and earning even when they do not have business of their own. The mission of my team is to empower women who have a passion in real estate to build their business successfully in a male-dominated industry. I treat every member on my team with respect and encouragement.
