We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jake Fulton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jake below.
Alright, Jake thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
If I could go back to my high school days I would. I also wish that I had started my creative career at that point instead of waiting 17 years to pursue my choosen career. In 2013, I signed up through a DJ academy called DJ4LIFE because I knew what career path I wanted to pursue. Career wise, I was working overnight in a grocery store, which I was not enjoying at all and wanted a career change. I had been on the electronic dance music scene since 1999 and I have always liked listing and playing music but I never thought about pursuing a career in music at that time. Boy, do I wish I had an idea of what I wanted to do with my life at that time but I did not.
I think that if I started sooner than later as I did, I feel that I would have been able to get exposure earlier then trying to fight for exposure today and, I would have been able to grow as a DJ instead of being frustrated that I am unable to perform like ai want to do.. So yes, I definitely would have started a lot sooner than I did.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into this industry by being a student first. Along the way, I had a couple really good instructors who, I still stay in touch with today.
The types of services that I provide for are, corporate, private, and school functions but I also instruct and have been doing that for over five years now. I really have not come across any issues with my clients in the past but I know that they can and will happen at any moment, When that happens, you have to stay professional and problem solve so that you can come up with a solution. It may be as small as venue size or as big as a major sound issue. The more you know the more you can fix the issue at hand.
What I am proud of the most is that happy feeling that I and other patrons get when everyone is having a good time and when I get great compliments afterwards. It makes me feel really good about myself and I want to keep that feeling.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I do not know enough about NFTs to go into detail but I think that if you have your own work that you painted, made by hand, or produced using a DAW, it is a good way to make a little extra income
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Making people happy even when they are going through a rough patch in their life.
