Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shreeyash Shrestha. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shreeyash, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Professionally, I am an independent music producer and engineer, but deep down, I’ve always had a spark for performing live. Very recently, I had the opportunity to host a garden show at my parents’ house in Nepal, surrounded by the people who mean the most to me— 50 of our closest friends and relatives. It was a night filled with music, memories, and emotional connection. I performed a mix of my original songs alongside some of my favorite covers, and it was incredibly special to share my passion for music with those who’ve supported me throughout my journey.
One extraordinary part of that night was that the band accompanying me was my own family. My 15-year-old brother, took up the bass, my father played drums, and my mother on backing vocalist. None of them are professional musicians, but the energy they brought to the performance was so full of life and joy. It was as if we were all on the same wavelength, creating music not just as individuals, but as a family unit. We performed for a full hour, and the experience felt surreal—a moment of pure connection between family, music, and the people we love.
For me, that night was about so much more than just performing; it was a celebration of everything music represents in my life— self-expression, connection, and community. I’ve always believed that music has the power to bring people together in an indescribable way, and this show was an example of that. It also gave me a chance to share my experiences on my journey as a musician and producer with the people who have supported me every step of the way.
Standing there on stage, sharing these intimate songs and stories, while my family played beside me, was a truly “aha” moment. It reminded me of the very reasons I fell in love with music in the first place—because music isn’t just about notes and rhythms, it’s about the moments and connections it creates. That show became a lasting memory for me, not just because of the songs we played, but because it was a genuine celebration of life, love, and the unbreakable bond that music creates between people.
Shreeyash, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Shreeyash, age 21 , an independent music producer, recording and mixing engineer from Nepal based in Los Angeles. I specialize in producing Rock and Pop genres. I work closely with artists to bring out the raw emotions in their performances and capture the essence of their songs. My philosophy is that “Song is King, Artist is heir to the throne, and the Producer is first advisor to the King.” I see my role as someone who sparks creativity and helps artists express their feelings in a way that deeply resonates with listeners.
What sets me apart is my commitment to understanding the emotional power behind music. Every note, beat, and word carries significance, and my aim is to amplify that through careful attention to detail. I encourage artists to focus on serving the song rather than their egos, ensuring that the music we create together is honest and impactful. I am involved with producing various up and coming artists like Raediant and Yatri Nepal. I’ve also taken on the roles of arranging and producing for the pilot production of Trolls the Musical by DreamWorks.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Music has always been my best friend, ever since I was a kid. Growing up, I was a sensitive and creative child, often grappling with untamed emotions that I didn’t quite know how to manage. Thankfully, I always found peace in music—whether it was through expressing myself on an instrument, pouring my heart into an emotion-filled song, or simply sinking into a melody that made me feel safe and relieved.
As a producer and music maker, my deepest wish is to offer these same experiences to others. I want my work to create a space where people can find solace, joy, or emotional release—just as music has done for me throughout my life. But beyond that, I also approach music with a sense of fun and passion. Music is something that brings people together, a means of celebration and connection.
There’s a quote that has always stuck with me: “People will forget what you said and what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” Music has the power to make people feel in profound ways, to transport them to another place. That’s what I aim to do with my work—to tap into music’s unique ability to stir emotions and create lasting memories for those who listen.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Growing up, I was always a shy and polite person, often to the point where I’d be scared to ask for opinions or favors, even from those closest to me. Recently, though, I’ve been working on becoming more sociable and confident. I’ve realized that it’s much better to simply ask for what you need, rather than worrying about being rude or hurting someone’s feelings. Of course, asking politely is key, but I’ve come to see that people are often more than willing to help. In fact, so many opportunities have come my way just through starting conversations and being open to those around me. Especially in music, getting feedback from listeners is so important.
I genuinely care about the people I connect with, and in return, I receive their love and support. I’ve come to realize that the people around me are incredibly intelligent and offer unique perspectives. Conversations with them have not only strengthened our relationships but also opened my eyes to knowledge, new ideas and ways of thinking.
