Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dr. Rebecca Troy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Dr. Rebecca thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Thank you for having me! When it comes to risk-taking, one of the biggest risks I took was launching a completely new method for helping children with dyslexia. At the time, there was a lot of skepticism because we didn’t follow the well-known methods like the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is often recommended by doctors, but which I personally found to be ineffective for many children. I knew from experience that children with dyslexia needed a different, more empowering approach, so I developed a personalized, at-home learning program. This risk paid off tremendously, and our program now consistently helps children improve their reading and spelling abilities within just four months. It was a leap of faith, but the results have been incredible, and seeing children’s confidence soar is worth every challenge we faced in those early days.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Absolutely! I’m Dr. Rebecca Troy, and I specialize in helping children with dyslexia thrive academically and personally. I run a program that focuses on enhancing reading and spelling skills through a personalized, at-home learning model. Our mission is to support children with dyslexia in embracing their unique abilities, building their confidence, and achieving academic success. I’ve been fortunate enough to connect with global initiatives, such as being invited to Richard Branson’s island for the first-ever dyslexic thinking celebration, which was a testament to the growing recognition of the strengths of dyslexic thinking. My journey has been deeply personal, shaped by a passion for empowering children and creating a learning environment where their strengths are celebrated.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
For me, building genuine relationships and trust with families has been key. We focus on delivering real results and letting those results speak for themselves. Word-of-mouth referrals have been incredibly powerful—parents who see their children making significant progress naturally want to share that success with others. We’ve also leveraged strategic online marketing through paid ads, which have helped us reach more families. Additionally, sharing case studies and testimonials has been effective, as parents appreciate seeing proof that our method works. Above all, though, it’s about maintaining authenticity and showing parents that we truly care about their children’s success.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a passionate advocate for children with dyslexia, I knew I wanted to create a company that would make a difference in their lives, but the path to creating a business for someone who had neve run a business was far smooth. In the early days, I worked countless, sleepless, nights. I sought out mentors who had faced similar challenges, learning from their experiences and applying their wisdom to my own business. Slowly but surely, my business began to grow. We expanded our offerings, hired a talented team, and started to see the impact of our work in the lives of the children we served. It required a lot of patience, trust, and the ability to adapt quickly to ensure our mission stayed on course. Through it all, I learned that resilience isn’t about avoiding challenges, but rather about facing them head-on with courage and creativity. It’s about staying true to your mission, even when the road gets tough, and finding joy in the journey, because there is always something to celebrate.
