Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joyce Bacon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Joyce, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
As a young mother, I faced countless challenges, not least of which was navigating a world where societal stigmas suggested that I would not succeed and that my children would inevitably suffer as a result. Despite the doubt and criticism that surrounded me, I was determined to rise above the negativity and build a better future for my family. The truth was, I wasn’t sure what I was skilled at beyond taking care of my family. Yet even in those uncertain moments, I knew one thing for certain: I had a natural gift for nurturing, encouraging others, and motivating them to strive for their best.
At the heart of my journey was a deep and unwavering belief in God. It was this faith that became the foundation upon which I built my life. I clung to the conviction that God had a purpose for me that went far beyond what others could see or say. Focusing on what He declared about my potential, rather than on the negative narratives imposed by society, I gained the courage to step forward with determination. I realized that my life was not just about survival but about thriving—and that my family’s success would be rooted in my resilience and faith.
With a growing sense of purpose, I started small, right in my own community. I held parenting classes at my local recreation center, organized community dinners, and led outreach days, all with the aim of empowering others. Along the way, I worked in Human Services and Health Care, roles that further sharpened my understanding of what it meant to serve and support individuals. My passion for helping others eventually led me to obtain two professional coaching certifications, opening the door for me to start my own coaching business.
Initially, I wasn’t clear on my niche, but that changed when I was contracted by a Workforce Development organization as a professional development coach. It was here, in 1:1 coaching sessions with job-seeking residents of the community, that I truly discovered my passion. I realized that career goals, while essential, were only part of the picture. Spiritual, mental, and physical wellness were equally important—and in many cases, foundational to achieving lasting success.
Through my coaching, I began to see firsthand how holistic wellness could transform lives, not just for my clients, but for myself. My journey, once marked by uncertainty, had now become a pathway to inspiring and uplifting others. It became clear that I was not only building a future for my family, but also creating a ripple effect of empowerment that would extend far beyond my own household. I had turned my challenges into a purpose-driven mission, and in doing so, I found not only my skill set but my true calling.
Joyce, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Today, I have fully embraced my calling: uplifting and affirming the talents of others. My work centers around helping individuals identify their God-given skills and abilities and igniting a spark within them to pursue their goals and dreams with confidence. Through this journey, I discovered my love for facilitating group coaching sessions, which provided an opportunity to extend my impact beyond 1:1 coaching. It was in these group settings that I found my passion for motivational speaking. I realized that the excitement and perspectives that arose from group discussions brought a new depth to the coaching process, allowing me to inspire people on a broader scale.
My work is not driven by titles or accolades, but by people. I am deeply passionate about seeing others succeed, and that fulfillment comes not only from the success of my own family, but from watching entire communities thrive. The true reward is seeing individuals transform their lives by recognizing their potential, developing their talents, and pursuing their dreams with purpose. My journey has become about more than just personal achievement—it’s about creating a ripple effect of empowerment that spreads far and wide, lifting others up along the way.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most transformative steps in my journey was recognizing the need to un-partner with the lies I had believed about my identity. These falsehoods—whether they came from others, from my own insecurities, or from the enemy—whispered that I wasn’t good enough, that I lacked the ability to succeed, or that I was somehow unworthy of access to the opportunities before me. These lies held me back, distorting my sense of self and delaying me from stepping into the purpose for which I had been created.
As I entered my second year of ministry school with Global School of Supernatural Ministry, I vividly remember a pivotal moment of prayer where I asked God for forgiveness, forgave myself, and released the false narratives I had clung to for so long. It was a moment of profound freedom, as I chose to embrace the truth of who God says I am—worthy, capable, and called to greatness. Letting go of these limiting beliefs opened the door for me to walk boldly into my true calling, fully embracing my identity as it was designed by God.
I encourage others to do the same. When we stop partnering with the lies that diminish our worth, we open ourselves to the greatness we’ve been called to. God has given us access to opportunities and purpose beyond what we can imagine. It’s time to shed the limiting beliefs and step confidently into the fullness of who we are meant to be.
