We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Georgianna Martinez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Georgianna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
A Mommysaccess is a blog site with a mission to uplift and encourage single moms. Reminding single moms of the fact that although they are physically parenting alone God is alongside them in their journey of parenting, which makes the load lighter. This mission is meaningful to me because from the age of 9 I was a product of a single parent household. As a result there were certain beliefs and mindsets I acquired that lead to continuing the cycle of being a single parent in my family. Now as a single mom, who wants a different story for her child, I understand the importance of having a relationship with God in order for this cycle to be broken.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. I am the youngest of four girls and the first to obtain a Masters Degree in my family. Along with being a blogger and author, I am a special education teacher. I teach fifth and sixth grade math in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. When I’m not busy teaching, I love to travel and spend time with my family creating memories.
I started blogging in 2021 at which point I had been a single mom for seven years. After experiencing and healing from the hurt that stems from becoming a single parent, I felt led to start blogging to encourage other single moms in their journey. The blogging site I created is called AMommysaccess.com. On this site single moms can find encouragement reminding them that although they are physically alone they are not alone in parenting because God is with them. Also on the site single moms can see testimonies from other single moms and hear how they persevered in their single parenting seasons. Additionally, there are resources such as book recommendations and life coaching recommendations on the site. This blog site can be seen as a source for single moms to receive the healing and tools needed in order to be their best selves for their children. Being a single mom is not easy, it can feel like a lonely journey at times. Because of this, there is a need for an uplifting community for single moms. AMommysaccess offers such community, along with the above mentioned resources, I’ve hosted virtual books clubs and in person events to foster a supportive community for single moms and their children.
In 2023 I published my first book, Single Parenting But Not Alone. A 90-day devotional for single moms who chose to do life with God. This devotional speaks to different emotions and seasons single moms endure and serves as a guide on how to reflect and heal from such. One of the best parts of this book are the drawings created by my daughter who is the illustrator.
What I would like for readers to know is that your circumstance does not define who you are. I was a product of a single parent home but with the grace of God history does not have to repeat itself.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Prior to publishing the devotional in 2023, my initial goal for publishing was December 2021. When I initially wrote down my goals for this devotional I was aiming to write a 365 day devotional. Because of life’s demands I found it difficult to stick with my initial goal. I learned that I needed to have grace with myself. As a result I set smaller goals along the way to my major goal which was publishing. One of the smaller goals made was to shorten the devotional to 90 days instead of the 365. Another adjustment was creating an attainable writing schedule that worked with my other responsibilities. Ultimately, the adjustments made the publishing goal more attainable, less stressful, and allowed for the opportunity to be present for other life demands.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the mindset of thinking that people would not be interested in my business because there are other businesses available that are similar. What helped me unlearn this thought is the feedback and encouragement I receive from those who follow my blog site. Hearing people share how much my blog posts resonates and helped them through a season, showed me that although there are other blog sites that cater to single moms my site has impact as well.
