We recently connected with Samuel Penaloza and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Samuel , thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I aspire to be remembered for the passion that infuses my work, creating art that resonates deeply with others. I hope my creations endure, inspiring those who share a similar journey to mine. My goal is to demonstrate that it is indeed possible to uncover light even in the darkest of places, offering hope and encouragement to those who need it most.
Samuel , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into painting as a junior in high school. My art teacher saw that I enjoyed drawing so she introduced me to painting ever since I touched a brush onto a canvas I knew that’s what I wanted to do since then I’ve worked on my craft every day I love it it’s my passion. I dropped at a high school so I don’t have an education. I was able to get where I am now through hard work working with my community and finding people that wanted to help me. For the past decade, I slowly progressed, and it’s been a hard journey, but recently it has paid off last year I was part of a group exhibition at our state art museum Newfields. after that I was offered a teaching artist position at a middle school Monarca Academy , where I’ve already completed a school year. What I offer is a piece of my self in every painting
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
To attract new clients, I believe the most effective strategy is to actively seek them out in person. By attending art events and engaging in activities related to my field, I can showcase my passion and connect with potential clients face-to-face. This not only helps in building relationships but also allows me to present my work and services in a genuine and impactful way.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building my reputation has largely been a result of embracing every project that comes my way. Regardless of my prior experience, I’ve always seen each opportunity as a chance to learn and grow. Instead of fearing failure, I view it as an invaluable lesson that contributes to my development. This mindset has not only enhanced my skills but also enriched my overall experience in the field.
