We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Martina Negro. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Martina below.
Martina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
In late 2021, I decided to take content creation seriously. I had always been passionate about fashion and loved expressing myself creatively behind the camera, so turning that into something bigger felt natural. The moment I made the decision, I just started—posting consistently, sharing my outfits online, and pitching myself to brands. At first, it was all about getting myself out there, no matter how small the opportunity. Within a month, I began landing gifting campaigns. I treated each one seriously, putting in extra effort to create quality content. The hustle was real—I had to figure out how the industry worked, make connections online, and learn the ins and outs of outreach. Every day was a mix of learning, adapting, and pushing forward, even when things weren’t clear. I wasn’t afraid to put myself out there and take risks. Little by little, that consistency helped me gain traction. It was all about momentum, diving into it fully, and trusting the process to launch something I knew I could grow.
Martina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Martina, a fashion and lifestyle influencer based in Miami but raised Italian, and I’ve been building my brand since I decided to take content creation seriously at the end of 2021. My passion for fashion, creativity, and storytelling naturally led me to this space. What started as a love for styling outfits and being behind the camera turned into a full-time career, where I share fashion, lifestyle, travel, cooking, beauty, and more with my audience. My journey began by consistently posting my personal style online and pitching myself to brands. Slowly, I started to land gifting campaigns, which were crucial stepping stones. I’ve worked with fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands, creating content that resonates with my audience and showcases the brands’ messages in an authentic way. I love collaborating with brands that align with my vision and bringing their products to life through engaging content. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come in this industry. From figuring out how to navigate brand partnerships to growing my community to 10k on Instagram and 44k on TikTok, it’s been an incredible ride. My Insider LVMH certification was a huge milestone as well—it’s something that has deepened my knowledge of luxury fashion and allowed me to add even more value to the content I create. For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want them to know that my brand is built on passion, creativity, and hard work. I approach each partnership with dedication, ensuring that the content I produce is high-quality and meaningful. My goal is always to inspire and engage my audience while delivering value to the brands I work with. Whether it’s a quick styling tip or a full brand collaboration, I bring my all to every project.
If you have multiple revenue streams in your business, would you mind opening up about what those streams are and how they fit together?
Yes, my business does have multiple revenue streams, which is essential for maintaining a sustainable and growing career in content creation. The primary income source comes from brand collaborations, where I partner with fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands to create sponsored content. But beyond that, I’ve diversified my income streams to include other areas like affiliate marketing where I earn commissions through affiliate links, ad revenue, where platforms like TikTok offer ad revenue through their creator programs, and through content creation services where I offer my content creation expertise to brands by producing content for their own use, separate from my social media platforms.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I get this question a lot: How can I gain and grow a bunch of followers overnight? But for me, my main focus has always been on creating quality content. For me, it’s quality over quantity every time. I believe that when you put effort into crafting content that’s authentic, visually appealing, and valuable, it resonates much more deeply with your audience. That connection helps build trust, and ultimately, that’s what leads to long-term growth. Another key strategy has been building a niche, tight-knit community. I engage with my followers as much as possible—replying to comments, answering DMs, and really fostering relationships with them.
