We recently connected with Jeremiah Butout and have shared our conversation below.
Jeremiah, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Spicy Señorita Salsa is more than just a salsa brand; it’s a heartfelt homage to our late mother. She laid the foundation for our authentic fresh taste by her love for entertaining, cooking, and enjoying life’s
pleasures such as sipping margaritas on the beaches of Mexico. Our Salsa recipe (born in our mother’s kitchen) reflects her discerning taste and passion for fresh, quality ingredients.
Over the years, we’ve refined and perfected our unique blend, creating a product that embodies the essence of her culinary spirit. Even though our mother is no longer with us, her influence continues to shape Spicy Señorita Salsa. Every jar we produce is a tribute to her memory, a continuation of the warmth and joy she brought to gatherings. We’re confident that she would take pride in what our company has become. So, when you enjoy a jar of Spicy Señorita Salsa, you’re not just savoring a delicious blend of favors; you’re partaking in a legacy of love, family, and the celebration of life inspired by our mother indomitable spirit. Here’s to honoring her with every jar and sharing the joy she so loved to create.

Jeremiah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
During my childhood, our family didn’t have a strong financial background. After my parents divorced, my mother played a crucial role in shaping my work ethic. I saw her working three jobs, which required my siblings and me to help with household chores. Being introduced to tasks and responsibilities at a young age shaped my work ethic today. I learned early on that if you face a problem, hard work can help you overcome it. Observing and participating in my mother’s efforts taught me to strive to be the best person I can be. I live by a work ethic motto: “If I wouldn’t do it to my mother, I would never do it to someone else.” This has taught me to “take the hi road” in life.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
There are many types and styles of salsa available, both in stores and homemade. Our community has experienced a wide variety of these flavors. While our salsa blends are unique, we naturally believe ours is the best, and we’re eager to share that taste. Whether at a party, farmers market, or in a store, offering samples is key to our sales strategy. We love the opportunity to share samples while highlighting features like no added preservatives or sugars, along with cooking ideas that incorporate our salsa. By educating customers on different salsa recipes, we help them see how our salsas can be used in more than just chips and dip.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
As our presence expands into more local markets, fostering brand loyalty remains a top priority. To strengthen customer loyalty, we have implemented several programs. At tradeshows and farmers markets, we offer bulk purchase discounts and loyalty punch cards. Additionally, our online store provides bulk discounts, free shipping on orders exceeding a certain threshold, and a rewards program where points can be redeemed for discounts on future purchases. Given our salsa’s 15-month shelf life, bulk discounts have proven to be one of our most effective marketing strategies.
