We recently connected with Constantine Sekeris and have shared our conversation below.
Constantine, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Well art runs in my family way before i came along…My grandfathers and family tree shows that there was sculptors and painters that worked for the churches way back in greece. So when i was around 5-6 years old i started drawing ta that age and have been ever since.
To speed up my learning i wish i would have gotten into 3D alot sooner than i did..i feel thats a major tool in my every day work load.
Drawing is the most essential in my humble opinion….i have many sketch books that i sketch all the time.
Work stood in the way of learning more .when working sometimes on multiple projects u fall to what u know gets fatst results to meet ur deadlines and so its hard sometimes when ur constantly on deadlines to get out of ur comfort zone to learn something new cus of the time it would take to work that into ur pipeline.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
after graduating Art Center College of Design i started right away in practical FX studios .I literally had my portfolio and went to studios asking for work and too look at my skills.I also sent out promo cards of my work to FX studios and got hired by Steve Johnson’s EdgeFx soon after on Bicentenial man staring back then Robin william designing hmaniod robots.my very first project.where i learned from the best technitians /artists in film work. That is the basis of my foundation the knowlege of knowing how to execute and build a character/creature in the materials it needs to function on set ect….becuase of that practical knowledge i feel it sets me apart form most of concept artists in regards to how something is build pracrically and also mixing mediums as well with digital enhancements or augmentations.,When i get a call on projects the main thing is to help create the vision of the director and help realize his or her vision with the tools ive learned and hopefully design something with a fresh new aesthetic and design that inspires viewers and audiences.I always try and push the design of what im working without repeating myself and take in acount the execution of what ever im designing and hope fans will like it and appreciate all the hard work.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
the fact that i get to do what i love and create something from nothing in hopes to inspire others and there voice and journey as an artist or creature/character designer.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I study life as much as i can and get inspiration from the world and what it has to offer from human anatomy to aquatic life to biology ,fashion, architecture, ect….i contstantly try and push myself to learn and also add new technolgy to my process to stay relevant in todays productions.
