We were lucky to catch up with James Markwyn recently and have shared our conversation below.
James , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I was in band class in middle and high school and that taught me much of the basics of music and performance. I definitely think that learning to read music and actually take classes was super essential to being able to have the skills to continue with pursuing music in my adult life.

James , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been playing music since I was a child, and pursued it much more in high school, playing bass in jazz band. now I play guitar and sing in Oh Well, Ok, a noise pop band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I’ve been living for the last two years

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
If we want to get better artists and creatives we have to create a society that allows people to fully persue their passions. This means to me doing away with the systems that force people to sort of give up on said passions in pursuit of “more realistic” careers because those are the only ones that can even come close to paying the bills for working people. Say what you will but I think that’s the best way to foster creative people and creativity.
