We were lucky to catch up with Nybriah Gudes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, NyBriah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us a story about a time you failed?
About 7 years ago I was moving into the dorms where I attended college in Toccoa Falls Georgia. This was the college that I got accepted into my 11th grade year so I was so excited to be going. My time there was challenging. I experienced heartbreaks, failures, financial hardship because of being irresponsible, and much more. But I gained wonderful friends and professors. Because I failed and recieved a failing gpa I was put on academic probation and could no longer recieve aid.
I then had to move back to Moultrie where I was attending abac on the square. I had to pay out of pocket for school because my gpa was below a 1.5 but after 3 loan places told me they couldn’t approve me I received a call that was telling me I was approved 3 hours before money was due… But God!! I had to take a math remedial class and was not happy about it at all. But I put my pride to the side and got my Gpa back up and received aid once again.
Then I moved to Valdosta after being introduced to GMC and that’s where I then gained hope. I got financial aid back, made the deans list and graduated that same year December 2020.
After graduation I was accepted into Valdosta state university and was excited to be continuing my education. My experience at vsu was a blessing but challenging. Academically I was doing good, but in other areas not so much. I once again experienced disappointment, heartaches and failed a summer class. But God!!!
I completed an internship for my degree and while completing 4 other classes. I had professors that just don’t know how they have blessed me from helping after class and accepting late work. So when you see me worshiping God this is why because he saved me when I was struggling.
I learned that what even though I experienced failure you can still win. It’s important that you don’t give up. I have almost threw in the towel so many times but that is behind me. I am a certified life coach that is here to help you too also tackle your goals. If college isn’t for you that’s fine, if that 9-5 isn’t for you that okay too, find what it is that you like and find something you like to do!!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a youth purpose coach working with youth to find the purpose and build their confidence. It’s important to me to see youth excel in life and with the right resources they can and will do just that. I am available to speak at high schools, colleges, conferences, and any event where I can share my story of overcoming life trials with resilience, patience, and determination.
I also have a women’s group where we motivate, build each other up, and encourage each other to not give up but push through when life gets you down. As a life coach and someone who has
experienced life in my own way l uplift them to and remind them it’s just a page not the entire book.
Not everyone has been watered the same and some may feel like they haven’t been given the opportunity to grow but my goal is to encourage other people to heal, evolve, acknowledge the problem, learn how to handle it, and share their story by using their new found voice.
