Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Giara Major. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Giara, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
There was a moment in my life where people would ask me simple questions on social media on how I did things I was posting (Ex: what makeup are you using? How did you get your hair to turn out like this? Where did you purchase this form?). I also had a lot of my friends telling me how I should look into being an influencer/content creator. To be honest, the people around me saw something in me before I did. I started making videos of my everyday life in 2022 just for fun; but it wasn’t until 2023 when I started taking social media a little more serious. At this very moment, I’m having so much fun creating content and connecting with others. I sometimes wish I would have took social media a little more seriously earlier in life but to be honest, my timing was perfect. One reason is because I wasn’t as confident as I am now to put myself out there back in 2022. The one advice I can give people who’s looking into creating content for social media is TO JUST START. The more you wait, the more you waste time. Your content may not be the best starting off but the more you continue to do it, the better you’ll get and it will soon be natural.

Giara, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am originally from Baton Rouge, LA, now residing in Houston, TX. Throughout my childhood I was active in cheer and dance. After college I decided to audition to become a professional dancer for the New Orleans Saints. This was such an amazing opportunity I was able to experience in life. Not only was I able to dance on a professional level in the NFL but I also was able to meet wonderful people who will forever be in my life. After dancing professionally, I decided to give back to the dance studio I grew up at becoming a dance teacher for about 8 years. I taught ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop to kids between the ages of 5-18. In 2023, I stepped out on faith and decided to move to Houston, TX. I must say this was the best decision I made in my life. Baton Rouge and New Orleans will also have my heart but Houston has become my home. I consider myself as a micro influencer/content creator and I love showing off how beautiful the city Houston truly is.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My ultimate goal is to connect to people who can relate to me. I am currently growing an audience on social media and my goal is to connect to them on a positive level. I focus my content mainly on lifestyle, mental health and positivity. My mission is to show that even though the world may be chaotic; life is beautiful and worth living.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing for me in content creating is when my audience reaches out letting me know they can relate. In life, there can be a million people around you yet, you still feel lonely. Engaging with my audience really warms my heart. My social media friends are truly special. I’m fully aware that social media can also be a dangerous place so I take extreme precautions; but knowing I can connect with someone who lives in New York while I’m all the way in Houston is very powerful to me.
