Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eric Sattler. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Eric, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
My journey into the creative world began in 2017, following two life-changing events: losing both my job and my brother. It was a tough time, but I knew that I wanted to turn that pain into something meaningful and build a legacy that would make both myself and my family proud.
Although I had been doing music videos since 2008, I still felt raw in my skills. Starting NVision Films wasn’t easy, and the early days were filled with challenges. I took on any project I could, working long hours to gain experience, learn my cameras, and develop my unique style. My focus was on what I believed to be a great vision for my branding, but it took time and a lot of hard work.
Even though money was coming in, I was working myself to the bone, every day and night. I needed that one opportunity or recognition to solidify my work—not only to others but to myself. As I continued to grind, I started earning different accolades, like being named the 2020 Austin Hip-Hop Videographer of the Year and becoming a 2023 Austin Chronicle Best Filmmaker Finalist. That last one was especially meaningful because, even without having a big-budget project like others in the industry, my community recognized my dedication. To be mentioned alongside filmmakers like Robert Rodriguez was an incredible honor.
After those nominations, things started to take off even more. I’ve been blessed to work with some major names in the industry, including Kenny Vaccaro, Johnny Manziel, and Alex Okafor. Partnering with brands like DraftKings and the NFL, I’ve had the chance to produce impactful work and push my creative limits. One of the biggest highlights was working with Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys, which brought more attention to my style and vision.
These collaborations have been pivotal in building my brand, but I’ve realized the importance of having a solid team and strong networking connections. Looking back, I believe that with a bigger team behind me and a stronger focus on marketing early on, I could have reached this level faster. But at the same time, I’m proud of every step along the way. The journey has made me who I am today, and I’m more driven than ever to keep pushing forward and expanding my legacy.
With new projects on the horizon, including ventures into scripted reality shows like Battle of the Music Artists and continuing to work with top-tier talent, I feel like I’m just getting started. It’s been a long road, but I’m excited to see where it leads next.

Eric, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
What I’m most proud of is being able to make a living from my craft, meeting top-tier celebrities and public figures, and building something that my kids can carry on—especially since they’ve already embraced the NVISION name themselves. These milestones keep me motivated through the daily trials and tribulations. I’ve built strong connections and a network that holds weight in any room, and my value and credentials are reflected in my work.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My particular goal is to create a sustaining source of income that allows me to follow my personal dream of opening basketball parks and sports recreation centers around the world, especially in less privileged neighborhoods where access to these resources is limited.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A major lesson I had to unlearn was thinking that working solo is the best way to get things done. While it’s true that hustling on your own can push projects forward, I realized that to truly grow and transition from a hustler’s mentality to a business owner’s mindset, I needed to build a team. The key wasn’t about finding 10 more people like me—it was about creating and nurturing 10 new versions of myself. Those who are already at my level or further along are likely chasing the same goals. Instead, I needed to focus on developing people with the potential to grow alongside me, allowing us to reach new heights together.
