We recently connected with Kelyn Henry and have shared our conversation below.
Kelyn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you find your key vendor or vendors? Maybe you can share the backstory and share some context and the relevant details to help us understand why you chose them, why they chose you, etc.
Finding the right vendor, primarily a manufacturer or distributor, was one of the most significant turning points in developing my skincare line. For me, the process started with thorough research. I looked at private labeling and custom formulations aligned with K Cherin Beauty’s ethos—using active and plant-based ingredients that heal, like my Rapid 7 dark spot remover. I reached out to several vendors, asked for samples, and tested those products on myself and my existing clients.
When striking the deal, it was about building a relationship. I explained my vision clearly: a line that would help women and men tackle common concerns like dark spots, oily skin, and acne while giving them a radiant glow. The vendor I chose stood out because they understood my passion for corrective skincare and helped me craft products that were results-driven but gentle. They made a deal with me because I knew we could achieve long-term potential and growth together.
If I could do things differently, I would have set up more rigorous performance metrics, like delivery timelines, pricing flexibility, and detailed production agreements. Understanding more about the ng process and negotiating smaller minimum order quantities early on would’ve given me more freedom to tweak and perfect my line before scaling.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is always staying involved in the quality control process—getting samples regularly and ensuring that what’s being produced meets my standards. Building trust with your vendor is key, but you must protect your brand by ensuring every batch is consistent.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots I’ve had to make in my career was when I transitioned from working in a brick-and-mortar spa location to running my business from home. It was a major shift, not just in terms of logistics, but also in how I approached my services and connected with my clients.
At first, the move felt overwhelming because I was concerned about how it would impact my clientele. But I used it as an opportunity to refocus on what really sets me apart—my deep expertise in corrective skincare and my passion for creating products that deliver real results. I leaned heavily into my skincare line, K Cherin Beauty, and began incorporating more virtual consultations, allowing clients to still receive personalized care and product recommendations even if they couldn’t visit in person. I also used this time to expand my product offerings, including top sellers like **Rapid 7 Dark Spot Remover** and the **Ginseng Mineral Toner**, which gave me an even deeper connection to my clients’ skincare journeys, whether they were near or far.
The pivot to a home-based setup forced me to think creatively about how I could deliver the same high-quality experience in a different environment. I invested in creating a serene, spa-like atmosphere at home, ensuring that clients still received the luxury and personalized attention they were used to. What I realized is that this change gave me more flexibility and allowed me to focus on scaling my skincare line and educating my clients in new, innovative ways, both in-person and online.
Looking back, the pivot taught me resilience and adaptability, and I’m proud to say that not only did my business survive the change, but it’s thriving. My passion for skincare and my commitment to helping my clients achieve their best skin has only grown, and I continue to offer top-tier esthetician services along with a skincare line that addresses real concerns, from acne to dark spots and beyond.

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
No, I don’t manufacture my products myself, but I’m deeply involved in every step of the process to ensure they meet the high standards I set for my clients and my brand, K Cherin Beauty. When I first decided to create my skincare line, I knew I needed to partner with a vendor who could bring my vision to life, especially since I wanted formulations that not only addressed concerns like dark spots, oily skin, and acne but also used plant-based ingredients that heal.
At the start, I didn’t know much about the manufacturing side, so I had to do a lot of research. I explored different options, from private labeling to custom formulations. I reached out to various vendors, asked for samples, and spent time testing them—not just on myself, but also with some of my clients, because it was important that the products worked for real people in real situations. I was looking for a manufacturer who understood my passion for corrective skincare and could help me create products that were both effective and safe for all skin types.
The right vendor came along after multiple rounds of sampling and negotiations. What set them apart was their ability to take my feedback seriously and refine formulations until we had exactly what I envisioned, like my best-selling **Rapid 7 Dark Spot Remover** and the **Herbal Silk Moisturizer**. Building a relationship with a manufacturer that was willing to collaborate and prioritize quality was key.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of communication and transparency throughout the manufacturing process. I make sure to stay involved in everything—from ingredient sourcing to quality control—so that each product remains consistent and delivers results. Another lesson was patience. It took time to find the right partner and develop formulas that aligned with my brand values and my clients’ needs. The process can be slower than you expect, but it’s worth it to get it right.
Overall, manufacturing is a journey of learning and refining, and while I don’t do it myself, I’ve gained a deep understanding of the process and have built a trusted relationship with my vendor. This allows me to focus on what I do best—helping my clients achieve glowing, healthy skin with products that work.
