We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandon Harrison. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandon below.
Brandon, appreciate you joining us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
The first time I was ever paid for my work was actually very early into my content creator journey. I had maybe a little over 500 followers and had only been posting content for about 6 months. The company that reached out to me was ‘Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company’. At the time I didn’t believe it because I didn’t think companies paid creators at the level I was at. I also have never heard of them before, so I did my research and come to find out their products are sold at stores nationwide. I remember being so excited and grateful for the opportunity. We worked out a deal, I took photos for them, and then I was paid. I had a great experience with the company, it taught me a lot from an early start and it will always mean a lot to me because they were the first company that believed in me enough to pay me to create content for them. Also, their juices are 10/10.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve always been into fashion, hats, and sneakers, and even being in front of a camera. I am fortunate enough to have been able to turn all of my passions into something I get paid to do. What I would say sets me apart from others is that I make it a priority to match every single outfit I make match the backgrounds. Whether that be by a colored wall, a mural or by theme of the outfit. The thing I’m most proud of is that I stay authentic to myself and don’t try to follow trends just because they’re in at the moment; for the most part that is. I put together outfits that I genuinely like to wear and don’t only wear those outfits for social media.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
For me, my goal is to be able to one day turn doing this into a full time thing to where I don’t have to work for anyone but myself. I’ve always worked 9-5 jobs, like most of us do, so to be able to eventually work for myself is my overall goal and that’s what drives me to continue putting in all the work that doesn’t get seen behind the scenes.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I can’t speak for everyone and their pages, but for me, I gave myself a set schedule for what days I post and how many days a week I post. I also always make sure to be very interactive with my followers by always liking comments, responding to comments, etc. It shows that I’m not just a robot on here who doesn’t notice all of the people who are supporting me and what I’m putting out there. No matter how large my page gets or how much growth I have I will always stick to that. It genuinely means a lot to me seeing the support I get and I would never want to do anything to diminish that. Some advice I can give to anyone who is just staring out is to never give up and always believe in yourself even if others don’t. If you have a passion or a goal, work hard and stay consistent. Consistency is key.
