We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brianna Lynn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brianna, appreciate you joining us today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
I believe that asking friends and family for support in my business is a natural and important part of entrepreneurship. They are often my first advocates, and their encouragement can be invaluable. However, I think it’s crucial to maintain a balance. While it’s perfectly appropriate to share my work, seek referrals, or ask for feedback, I draw the line at expecting them to promote or purchase my services out of obligation.
For example, I once shared a promotional post on social media about a special offer for my photography services. A family member commented, saying they felt pressured to book a session, which made me realize the importance of being sensitive to how my requests may be perceived. This experience taught me to approach my personal connections with care, ensuring they feel genuinely invited to support my business rather than obligated.
In the end, I want my friends and family to feel they can choose to engage with my work because they believe in it, not just because I asked. Building that kind of organic support feels more meaningful and sustainable.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Brianna Lynn, the founder of STUDIO INTUITIVE (& INTUITIVE SOCIAL), where I blend my passion for photography and content creation with marketing strategies to help businesses tell their unique stories visually. My journey into this industry started from a young age when I found myself captivated by the power of images to convey emotions and narratives. I honed my skills through formal education and countless hours of practice, experimenting with different styles and techniques until I found my voice.
At STUDIO INTUITIVE and INTUITIVE SOCIAL, I offer a range of services, including professional photography sessions, engaging social media content, and targeted marketing strategies designed to elevate brands in a competitive landscape. I specialize in creating eye-catching visuals that resonate with audiences, whether through stunning product photography, dynamic lifestyle shots, or captivating reels for social media.
The primary problem I solve for my clients is the challenge of standing out in a crowded marketplace. I understand that effective visual storytelling can drive engagement, build brand loyalty, and ultimately lead to increased sales. What sets me apart is my commitment to personalized service; I take the time to understand my clients’ unique needs and visions, ensuring that every piece of content we create reflects their brand authentically.
I’m incredibly proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients and the transformative impact my work has had on their businesses. Seeing their growth and success as a result of our collaborations is deeply rewarding. Additionally, I take pride in my ability to adapt and innovate, staying ahead of trends while maintaining a timeless aesthetic in my work.
For potential clients and followers, I want you to know that my brand is built on authenticity and connection. I believe in creating meaningful content that not only showcases products but also resonates with audiences on a personal level. At STUDIO INTUITIVE, I’m dedicated to helping you shine in your own unique way, creating visuals that inspire and engage. My goal is to empower you to share your story confidently, knowing that your brand’s voice is being represented in the best light possible.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One significant lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that success is solely measured by output or how busy you are. Early in my entrepreneurial journey, I often equated long hours and constant hustle with progress. I believed that the more I worked, the more successful I would be, leading to burnout and diminishing creativity.
The turning point came when I realized that quality, not quantity, truly matters. A few years ago, after a particularly demanding project, I felt exhausted and uninspired. I took a step back and evaluated my approach. I learned that allowing myself downtime and prioritizing self-care not only rejuvenated my creativity but also led to higher-quality work for my clients.
Now, I focus on working smarter, not harder. I block out time for creative exploration, personal growth, and rest, which ultimately enhances my productivity and the value I provide. This shift has transformed my mindset, reminding me that creativity flourishes in a balanced environment. I encourage other small business owners and creatives to embrace this lesson, understanding that taking a break can lead to greater inspiration and innovation in their work.

Have you ever had to pivot?
In 2010, shortly after graduating, I launched my photography business with high hopes and enthusiasm. However, by 2016, I found myself closing that chapter due to a series of discouraging experiences with shady clients and less-than-reputable photographers. It was disheartening to see the industry plagued with challenges, especially from those who were well-known yet acted unethically. This experience left me feeling discouraged and questioning my place in the creative field.
Instead of giving up entirely, I pivoted my focus towards my marketing agency, where I recognized a growing need for quality content creation. I began offering photography services exclusively to clients on my marketing roster, which allowed me to maintain my passion for photography while navigating a more stable business environment. This shift not only reignited my love for visual storytelling but also provided me with a safer space to create.
Fast forward to two years ago, I decided to reopen my photography services to the public, now offering both one-off projects and retainer clients. This decision felt like a full-circle moment; I had learned from my past experiences and was now equipped with a stronger foundation and a clearer vision for my business. I’m grateful for the challenges I faced, as they led me to this new phase where I can merge my photography and marketing expertise, providing holistic services that truly resonate with my clients.
