Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Landini
Hi Christina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I gave birth to my son on March 26, 2020, and I was excited to have newborn photos taken of him since he’s my last child. Unfortunately, due to COVID, our session was canceled. I had an old Canon Rebel camera, so I decided to take a few photos of him myself. Although the photos didn’t turn out as I hoped, I discovered a passion for photography and dove in quickly! I’ve now been a photographer for four years, and I love every second of it. I started my journey in the Bay Area, and now I’m a photographer in the Tahoe area, where our forever home is in Truckee, California.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it’s been a smooth journey, likely because I love what I do! It never feels like work to me (yay)! The one challenge was moving 1.5 years ago and building a new client base. This year, I’m thrilled to see a lot more clients! I won’t lie—I was super nervous about the move, worrying about losing all my Bay Area clients and having to start over. But now, I have no regrets. I have the incredible opportunity to photograph people from all over the world who travel to Tahoe!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I primarily photograph families, extended families, and maternity mamas. Occasionally, I dabble in brand photography and couples which I love. If I could solely focus on maternity sessions, I would—it’s my favorite! I’d also love to photograph more families in their own homes, as I adore the sentimental touch of in-home photography. That’s definitely a future goal of mine, especially because it gets super cold during the winter, and in-home sessions would be easier with little ones.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I know I mentioned this before, but moving our family was definitely a huge risk! I’m so glad I jumped that hurdle because this has been my best year yet. Another big risk was deciding to become a full-time photographer. I graduated from college two months after my last child was born, and it took me EIGHT years to earn my bachelor’s degree (haha). I was super nervous because I put so much time and effort into school, and then I fell in love with photography and chose not to use my degree. While I sometimes feel a bit silly for not using it, I have zero regrets because I’m incredibly passionate about my career choice!
