Today we’d like to introduce you to Jean Prominski
Hi Jean, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been a Professional Home Organizer since 2015, but I started my career off as a Professional Glassblower. I had initially started off college in architecture, because I wanted to build healing homes for people. I ended up switching my major to art (specifically “Crafts”) after I found glass. After living in Seattle for 7 years, I went back to school to get my master’s degree in Glass. I knew I wanted the work I did to impact the homes of people. I had no idea I would end up being a home organizer! Once I finally figured it out, it felt really right. I get to be creative while also directly impacting the lives of my clients.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It took a while for my business to really get going, but the people I met along the way have helped me so much! Once things were finally kicking, Covid hit. I was living in Seattle where people took it very seriously, so I didn’t go into people’s homes for quite a while. Ultimately, Covid was a great thing for my business, as it taught me to have better boundaries with my time and who I worked with.
I recently moved down to Carlsbad, New Mexico (from Seattle) for my partner’s job and to be closer to his family. We absolutely love it here, but I’m also in the process of rebuilding my local clientele. I have a good friend who takes on in-home organizing projects in Seattle for Seattle Sparkle, and I do in-home organizing in Carlsbad, NM for Sparkle Home Organizing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I offer both virtual and in-home organizing services, and in-home energetic space clearing. One of the big things that sets me apart from other organizers is that I have ADHD myself. Disorganization is a hallmark of ADHD, so most of the people who want organizing help also have ADHD. I have had a personal interest in organizing since I was young. As a kid, I would rearrange under my bathroom sink for fun. I always loved decluttering and cleaning, and would regularly read “Hints from Heloise” in the Washington Post. (I grew up in the DC area). But I wasn’t a “naturally neat” person. I really had to work at it. So I think my clients appreciate that I really understand the struggle and can teach them what I’ve learned. I also offer hypnotherapy to help people get organized.
What are your plans for the future?
Moving to Carlsbad, NM in the summer of 2024 was a major change, so right now I’m working on letting that big change integrate.
