Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Bosman
Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From a very young age I have always been creative. From painting to sculpting and even trying to come up with my own recipes for cooking. It has always brought me joy in creating works of art, even the scientific aspect behind some creations. Knowing that others enjoy my work just as much as I do, lights a fire inside me to continue to create.
I started with essential oils, trying to use more natural eco safe products in my home. Whether it was the cleaning products, food, or even the self care items, we wanted a more natural approach without any endocrine disruptors. I stumbled across making soap one day and decided to try it for myself. It was fun and exciting to learn and watch the transition on oils and fats to a bar of soap. Then I started looking into making other selfcare products for the body such as lotions, scrubs, and hair oils. I learned a lot of many oils and why they are good for you and which ones are the best. At some point I read about massage candles, and I wanted to give them a try. I came up with a recipe that turned out to be so amazing I used that same recipe in my lotion bars.
After I started making the lotion candles I decided to make regular candles but still with the mind set of natural, or as close to it as possible. I learned about Coconut Apricot wax and luxurious it is, and with its clean burning with the ability to put out a strong smell without the headache.
we keep reformulation and making new products as we learn more about the science behind it. Wanting to create the best products we can at a price that is reasonable and fair.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Right now my biggest struggle is expansion. I’ve been doing my best to get out there on social media, and I do the farmers market locally every Saturday. My husband has also been such a great help; he shares about the company and has recently been putting my business cards at any local store that allows him.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work very hard to create a minimalist product, that is either recyclable or minimal waste. Sourcing many products from other small businesses, as well as sustainable quality materials. Creating products with more than one use, containers that can be upcycled into a reusable storage container.
I just continued to keep making and reformulating recipes. Till I received enough mutual feedback that what I had created was successful in my product vision. No, it was not easy. It has been a long road but very humbling and very insightful. I never gave up, and continued to share my love of the products. I never thought of zero sales as a failure. Only a opportunity to learn and educated others on the benefits of using products that are handmade.
Many lessons haven been learned. I have learned better time management to be able to work and still have quality time with my family. Marketing, photography and social media have been the biggest lessons by far, and still learning.
I started this journey with wanting to provide more natural products that my family could use. Natural and safe products I felt comfortable with my family using. Then I wanted to share them with everyone who wanted to take back control, with natural and fewer ingredient.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband Rocky. He has not once questioned anything I want to try my hand at. Always helping and giving his thoughts to help the business grow and become more successful. My family has been very supportive. Giving me feedback from scents, quality of samples they try, labels designs, website designs. Always helping to keep me on brand and held accountable.
