Today we’d like to introduce you to Arsh Pal
Hi Arsh, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Arsh Pal is a 14-year-old artist and philanthropist. I started my journey when I was 8 years old. While exploring various hobbies my lean was always towards artwork. Acrylic paint, mixed media, and pencil sketches are my favorite styles of artwork. I started giving away my paintings to friends and family. Meanwhile, when I accompanied my mother, who was working in a nursing home as an occupational therapist, I observed many in pain, and lonely. I got an opportunity to talk/play therapy games with them. The short time I spent there made them smile and be cheerful. I was very touched by the seniors there. That sparked my interest in selling my artwork and helping someone in need. Setting my initial goal of 1,000$ for St Jude Research Hospital Became my beacon in the fog. Meeting my first goal gave him the drive to continue to paint and support the community. So far, I have raised & donated more than $22,000 to various Charities including St. Jude Research Hospital, Easter Seals, Compass to Care, Make a Wish Foundation, YMCA, and many more.
Often, I am privileged to donate my paintings for charity events for silent/live auctions. I have also done live paintings during fundraising events for a non-profit organization.
Teaching painting to kids/adults, and volunteering at nursing homes are some of my favorite activities. I have been teaching art lessons to nursing home residents as a recreation activity for the last five years.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Success is closely tied to hard work. It requires going the extra mile, dedicating more time and effort, maintaining focus and continuously striving for improvement. My journey has some struggles too, which I have overcome. The main difficulty is selling my artwork. I am selling my artwork online which limits the real feel of the artwork since the picture doesn’t do justice. Being a child artist, I Often face bargaining for my artwork or art classes.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a philanthropist and artist. I sell my paintings and donate the money to charity. I also teach painting lessons to nursing home residents and younger kids. I use my time and skills to help the community. My future goal is to make art lessons accessible to young kids to help their emotional and psychological well-being.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
During the crisis especially during COVID times, many businesses have shut down. Many have lost their businesses, source of income and their dreams. It had affected my journey during COVID times too with limited exposure to my art to the community and a stop to all the art lessons for seniors in nursing homes. Seniors are affected the most due to the isolation and limited group and recreational activities. The pandemic’s effects on seniors in nursing homes have increased my engagement to ensure they have opportunities for engagement and enjoyment.
