We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Anthony Vance a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Anthony thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The Most meaningful project I’ve worked on has got to be “My MindFrame”. A project i worked on while going through lots of changes in life, bouncing around, struggling with anxiety, and just facing life obstacles while pursuing my dreams. Track one “Pray For” featuring Gavin starts the project out with a optimistic chorus for listeners to enjoy with deep lyrics that relate to many who struggle their mental battles but continue to keep going. Track two dives into my more personal battles and issues i still struggle with to this day. “Learn Sum Patience” is a more upbeat song that can relate with many while giving the listeners a song to play over the speakers. Track 3 is a personal favorite. “Been the Problem” featuring Bone is a slower song that both expresses their battles with anxiety, overthinking, and struggling at the bottom learning how to cope correctly. Track 4 is another slower song where i express my struggles with Paranoia and get right to the point. “Paranoid Freestyle/GTFA is another personal favorite. Track 5 is a classic Remix of The past released song Save me. The “Save Me Remix” was mix and mastered by Bone & Remix and mastered by Babbersverse Magazine. The song is a different vibe and sure to bring a new audience. Last but not least track 6 “TIM DUNCAN” a more alternative and pop feel while I wrap the project up and express how my battles are just lessons and not life sentences. One day the cloudy days past, just keep fighting one day at a time.

Anthony , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Im a 22 year old artist coming outta Akron Ohio. I lived there till i was 12 then got moved to West Virginia for 10 years unexpectedly. I am now relocated back in Ohio working anyway i can to grow with the music and put my name out there. If I’m not working on music I’m either at work, church, or the gym. I love to stay busy and I love God. I record on protools after years of sending stems from audacity and not having the best equipment. Its not perfect now but its growing! Im very proud of my music each and every song, they all tell a story and they all come from the heart. I think lying or fabricating for a song is cheating the listeners and more importantly cheating yourself. My inspirations are Lil Wayne. The way he could put his emotion and vent on the instrumentals is so inspirational and is nothing but fuel. Another inspiration is Robert Downey Jr. The way he changed his life around after years of struggling and doing whatever he could on the streets to becoming One of the most known faces in Hollywood is inspiring. Only fuel to keep going.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Ive had many pivots whether it was writers block, confidence, or equipment issues. Wanting to create and not being able to is one of the worst feelings ever. But the hardest time i had was prior to dropping “My MindFrame” i had a bad case of an ear infection all while facing scenery changes and walking to work in the snow and rain after my vehicle broke down and i got let go at my previous job. This was a hard obstacle to overcome. I then buckled in and got two jobs and trooped it through the next 2 months to get a new vehicle and heal from the ear infection that took a month at least to finally go away. These times were also hard as i struggled seeing family members struggle with there ways of coping. My anxiety seemed to make everything seem 100x worst then it was and it was a battle I’m glad i overcame and a battle that’s made me stronger.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Truly i just believe keep an open mind and listen to their favorite artist but with hopes they will check out the underground scene with there free time at least to scout for new talent. I truly see a lot of Rising artist hungrier and hungrier by the day and there’s nothing that can stop that hunger in some people so why not be early to the show
