Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ruha Mubasshir. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ruha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I would love to discuss one of my recent projects, I poured my heart and soul into it. It will forever make me feel proud for doing it. I made this arabic calligraphy painting for a customer in London, UK. He envisioned something which would bring hope and inspiration to him in his work life as well as spiritual journey.
First, we decided which holy verses would empower his faith the most. Then with my understanding of color theory, I went for a color combination of blue, purple and white to represent hope, spirituality and purity. All my creations are custom made layer by layer as per my client’s needs. My customer was very keen on using only semi-precious gemstones while I create this mesmerizing beauty of geode in fusion with arabic calligraphy.
I have made many big and small geode inspired paintings but this is one of my proudest works I have done. Not only does it have a deeper meaning to cherish the colored stones but to absorb the spiritual element in it as well.

Ruha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a certified colored stone professional through GIA (Gemological Institute of America). I am pursuing to be a professional gemologist in the USA. My passion towards gem stones has led me into my artistic side of creating geode inspired resin painting. I consider myself a spiritual person and I love to add a fusion of holy verses for my clients.
I enjoy the challenge of creating exclusive paintings for my customers that they would never find elsewhere. From choosing the color combination to picking the right semi-precious stones for my clients, each painting takes months to complete.
My motivation behind this business is to make one of a kind geode inspired paintings for my customers, something to cherish for life in your home that you know was made exclusively for you. For those who appreciate the same passions for gemstones as well as those who like to cherish their spiritual journey.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think the most rewarding aspect of being creative is having the freedom to express myself, especially the spiritual connections I share. It has also challenged me in my ways where I need to understand my client’s envision and use my creative skill to bring that emotion on canvas. But it has definitely broadened my perspective as an artist as well.
The best part is when my customers receive their painting and see it for the first time. They share how that painting has made them feel emotionally and spiritually. It brings smiles on their faces and blessings in their home. To me that is the most rewarding aspect, to create something my client will cherish for life in their home.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I know I have always been very clear in my head about what I want to achieve in my life. I do believe that every redirection is an opportunity to grow more. Be it salesmanship or education, I never shy away to grab any opportunity for my personal development. These skill sets and hardships will always give a positive outcome in life.
I am working on my resin business as well as studying professional colored stone from GIA. It gives me a better understanding of what I am working on. Apart from this I work as a sales associate in gemstone market where I am learning and practicing my selling skills and client relations. Of course it helps make my ends meet as well in life.
But like I said earlier, every redirection is an opportunity to grow and learn a new skill set, which will definitely help in one’s business eventually.
