We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tricia Deboer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tricia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
Living in Hope Ministries serves the homeless orphans aging out of foster care. The Lord allowed me to meet a young lady and her 3 month old baby. She had just moved into town and before she moved she was living in a car and pregnant. I invited her to church, and our church gave her $100 for groceries as well as connecting her with a couple who blessed her with a car and many things that she was in need of. I give God all the glory because he bought me the connections to bless this beautiful young lady and her adorable son. She is now going to church with me and has a beautiful community that encourages and loves her very much.

Tricia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an author, Inspirational Mentor, Radio Talkk show host of Twiggytalkk Radio show and founder of Living Hope Ministries.
When I wrote my book 7 years ago i wrote it in 3 months. I started helping people write their books. All of my clients that are have mentored have either finished writing their book or are very close to being done.
I have always had a special place in my heart for orphans aging out of foster care. Since I adopted my son he has given me such a big heart for young girls who have no one to turn to and encourage them.
This led me to start Living in Hope Ministries. It will be a tiny home village giving these young ladies a place to where they will be encouraged, given direction be provided with a 12 month life skills program.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The year before Covid I was blessed to meet a woman with 7 acres of land. She said that I could put the tiny homes on her property. The year after Covid she changed her mind and said she didn’t share the same vision as me. The Lord had let me feel that this was going to happen. At first I was crushed and I was about to throw away my dream. That same day it happened I heard a great you tube video where they said “A closed door is only God redirecting you.
That same week I was given my Twiggytalkk radio show. I started to interview other non-profits in the area which gave me so many tips and direction on starting my ministry.
I also interviewed a man who started a tiny home ministry and he gave me the best advice. Very simple and sweet. He said, “Never give up”
There have been many times I have doubted myself and the dream, but I remember what that man said “Do not quit.”

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I once heard someone say “If your dream doesn’t scare you it’s not big enough.” My dream definitely scared me, but what I have realized is that he has given me this dream so I can trust and rely on him and his timing.
This year I felt like he was saying keep your momentum going. And he gave me the idea of having a Gala Findraiser. I had the Gala date of August 2nd of this year., but was a lot of opposition that came my way I had to change the date.
I think the scariest thing has been trusting that God would provide everything I need and to leave it all in his hands.
I started fasting the first 7 days of each month, where I drink only water from sun up to sun down. He has blown my mind since I started fasting in so many ways. He started bringing me people who believe in my vision and want to help me. That has not only been a big help but it has been such an encouragement to keep going .My Gala has been changed to November 7th of this year. and I have grown so much during this journey and I’m grateful for the process. One thing he keeps reminding me is to never give up no matter what the enemy may throw my way. And to remember may bring my way and to remember my why. These girls are waiting for my obedience and my trust and I know God will provide everything that I need.
My favorite verse is
“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
Phil 4:13
