We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rayna Roseby a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rayna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Any advice for creating a more inclusive workplace?
This is a loaded question for me. My journey began with my own wedding when I wanted to wear a black wedding dress, as it is my favorite color. The responses I received were of shock and outrage, and needless to say I ended up in a traditional white dress.
This is not to say that white dresses are not beautiful, because they are! It simply wasn’t a reflection of who I was and what I dreamed of for my wedding day.
Fast forward to today….
When thinking about expanding into the wedding industry it was truly so that brides or couples would have a neutral and supporting ground to express their dreams, wants, needs in a judgement free zone. That they could feel as though they had a voice in their wedding day. I am that voice Couples hear a lot of “voices” from friends, family, social media, and I become the silencer, the protector, and their voice to help ensure they get their wedding of their dreams!
Two of my favorite phrases are “it’s your wedding, do it your way!” Or “tradition is what you make it.”
This allows for inclusiveness in at Divine Events! It is a judgement free zone!

Rayna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My own wedding, set the stage for Divine Events by Rayna, a full-service Wedding and Event Planning service!
We absolutely LOVE it when a couples allow their true personalities to be showcased on their special day! Being unique can be represented via your colors, bringing in a unique element, the type of food chosen to going all out and bringing an entire theme to life! We are here for it all!!!
We pride ourselves in supporting our local small business community to build a client’s unique design! In addition, we will help our local community by putting on expos using vetted local vendors, hosting styled shoots, and helping businesses brand their product or service!
We will plan, design, and coordinate corporate events, graduations, anniversary parties, retirement parties, baby and bridal showers…. just about anything worth celebrating!!!

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Money, what money? I switched careers later in life when my Girlz grew up and started their own career paths. I wanted to grow and nurture something of my own. I asked myself what I LOVED outside of my family and the answer was weddings and babies. I can’t be there for the baby, minus the shower, but can definitely nurture the wedding process to make it fun and stress-free!
I was creative and honest when getting new clients to start my portfolio (I took none of the ones I did for friends and family), I networked, and let my work ethic, customer service, and creativity speak for itself!
It’s never too late to start a dream and all hurdles can be overcome through hard work and perseverance!

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had a mentor. Divine Events was truly created by trial and error, making educated decisions watching peers across the country, and just being open to new ideas! If someone can get a mentor in the field they want to grow in, it definitely would make life so much easier!
