Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Hill
Hi Cassandra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up as a Black girl in the South I was taught that education can be a tool for a better way of life. After graduating high school I entered college and was fortunate to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree. Immediately after undergraduate studies I entered graduate college and God blessed me to earn a Master’s degree. At this point, I entered corporate America working extremely hard to climb the ladder. The hard work came with favorable and unfavorable consequences. Awards like Woman of the Year and Stanford Who’s Who were bestowed for my exemplary work. It was an honor to be recognized for the work done as a Gerontologist as I genuinely care about older adults’ quality of life. Unfortunately while caring for others I neglected my health and well-being. Exhibiting this self-neglect for many years led to my body shutting down and being diagnosed with systemic lupus.
The treatment for systemic lupus included chemo drugs which caused me to walk away from working in corporate America. The side effects of this treatment were difficult causing me to look for different options. Taking courses in alternative medicine and health/wellness provided the knowledge necessary to develop a regimen that has caused me to live in remission for eight years with systemic lupus.
God blessed me to heal so I can facilitate the healing of others. As a Master Life Coach certified in women’s entrepreneurship, I have real lived experience combined with proven expertise to provide effective strategies, tools, etc. to restore a Black woman entrepreneur’s mental & emotional well-being while achieving financial stability.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The entrepreneurial journey has peaks and valleys. Access to capital when starting a business and then growing it has been extremely challenging. There have been many studies to confirm that Black women receive less than one percent of venture capital. To overcome this challenge in the beginning days of business I worked full time and took consulting opportunities to gain additional capital to grow. Additionally, my company has been blessed to receive grants that have been extremely beneficial in propelling the company forward.
Another struggle particularly in the early days was finding harmony with doing the work and providing my body the essential rest needed to have a healthy mind, body, and soul. What I have come to understand is that self-care must be a top priority for my cup to overflow so I can operate in excellence.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

As I reflect on the six years that I have been an entrepreneur I am most proud of the feedback received on how I changed someone’s life.
How do you think about happiness?
I can remember reading Golden Apple books with my Mother. It’s such a happy memory and to this day reading is one of my favorite pastimes. There’s nothing like curling up with a good book and lighting a candle or putting essential oils into a diffuser to bring serenity into my life.
