Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My hair journey began 15 years ago at M Salon Spa, where I first discovered my passion through amazing mentorship, which shaped my whole career. After a thriving start, motherhood called, and I took a transformative break to welcome my son, Kai. Balancing professional aspirations with motherhood led me to establish a home-based salon, blending my love for hairstyling with family life.
From its humble beginnings in my first home, my salon space has now grown into a bustling downtown location, where I lead a talented team dedicated to beauty and customer care. I’m grateful for the support of clients, friends, and family who’ve championed my journey. Each day, I aim to bring joy and confidence to clients while continuing to cherish each moment I can with my son.
This path has taught me resilience, determination, and the importance of following my heart’s journey. I’m excited for the future of Hair Love by Sigourny, and our team’s persistent commitment to creating a space of beauty, comfort, and love.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Balancing motherhood and owning a salon has been challenging, as I strive to be the best version of myself both at work and at home. Despite these challenges, I am fortunate to have the most amazing clients. No matter how tough the day is, I get to meet incredible people and do what I love: being a hairstylist. I have also had struggles finding hairstylists to join my salon. We are a great spot in downtown Burlington, and we have a lot of fun at the salon, so I think whoever joins our team will love it. But I just need to find that perfect match so that our salon can grow.

At Hair Love by Sigourny, we’re a close-knit team of blonde experts, with Chantel as our dedicated curl specialist, and an assistant who helps me both professionally and personally. We specialize in creating stunning blonde looks, with Chantel bringing her incredible talent to our diverse clientele. We’re also highly skilled in extensions, but our passion extends to all types of hair services, ensuring our clients leave feeling confident and beautiful.
What truly sets us apart is the family-like atmosphere we’ve cultivated in our salon. We have a lot of fun together and with our clients, who are just as much a part of our community as we are. I’m incredibly proud of the journey that led to opening my own salon while also being a mom to my amazing son. My staff is the best team I could have ever asked for, and I’m especially thankful for the clients who have been with me since I started in my home. Their loyalty means the world to me.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The COVID pandemic was particularly tough on the hair salon industry. When we could not do clients’ hair, I was afraid of losing some clients, but after all the time we were in lockdown, all of my clients came back to me, which I am so grateful for. It’s hard making money and running a business when you’re not allowed to work. However, I tried to focus on my son during that time, and we actually spent more time together than ever before since we couldn’t do anything else. So, something good did come out of the pandemic.
