We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rachael Lomeli. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rachael below.
Alright, Rachael thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
For Heritage Coffee Cart, we are always looking at how the here and now will impact the later. Part of naming our business was uncovering what we want to be known for – beyond the coffee, beyond the transaction, beyond the money. We want to love our community by serving coffee to them. We hope that our legacy, our Heritage, is that we loved people well and made some damn good coffee. We think people will say that they always felt cared for and like they were a vital part of the little community we were building by taking part in our coffee cart.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We are a husband and wife duo who love coffee. We both have extensive experience in various coffee shops and thought it was time to develop our own thing! We started a coffee cart, which is essentially a coffee shop on wheels. We have commercial-grade equipment that allows us to provide specialty coffee in any space. We have had the privilege to serve coffee in office spaces, at engagement parties, birthdays, churches, and conferences. The opportunities are truly endless. What makes our coffee cart special is that we bring the coffee shop experience to you. We can make almost any drink you can get at a coffee shop – including homemade syrups, non-coffee options, milk options, and hot or iced drinks. A coffee cart makes your guests feel special and it’s something everyone can partake in.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
For us, the best source of new clientele has been through Instagram and Facebook ads and our community. Instagram and Facebook have options where you can target the audience you want to reach, and if you’re reaching out to the right community it will lead to some quotes! Other helpful sources have been friends and family telling other people about what we do and giving us plugs in our community. It’s so important to have people who know about our business and telling their communities of people. We definitely wouldn’t be successful without the people in our life!

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
As of right now, my small business will remain what I do on the side. Slow and steady wins the race. I do dream of opening my own micro-shop one day. Until then, I am gaining lots of experience in other people’s shops so that when I get to open my own I know exactly what i want. I have had experience as a manager, roaster, barista, and shift lead. I think the goal for growing is to start small and grow slowly and to develop stability before expanding and eventually moving into a brick and mortar.
