Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Keya Mociers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Keya, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I came up with Greystone Design Co because I wanted my business name to have the representation of being strong and resilient because that is how I view myself. I went through so many names when I decided to change my business name from my former business name. I felt like my previous name did not represent the changes and the mindset shift that I was embodying, so I wanted a change!

Keya, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
When I first entered the wedding and events industry, I started off as a wedding planner, coordinator and designer. I struggled with what I wanted to do and how I wanted to leave my mark in the industry. I was all over the place. I’ve always been a creative and full of ideas. I wanted to do everything from planning, fashion, crafts, design and the list goes on. It wasn’t until I started getting around people I inspired to be and were where I wanted to be is where my mindset shifted. I started attending conferences and gained new skills by attending design workshops. I gained more confidence in my design skills and finally chose the path I wanted to pursue in the industry. I fell in love with floristry and studied to perfect my craft. I decided to solely focus on floral and event design and discontinue my planning service.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I feel like I am the definition of resilience. No matter what obstacles come my way, I will still keep going. I always tell myself if someone wants something badly enough they will manifest it and put forth inspired action to make it happen. That is exactly what I do! I do my best not to be dishonest to myself and we are humans and we do fall short but there isn’t any reason why we can’t start over. I’ll give you an example, I binged watched “My Celebrity Dream Wedding” one day and I loved Lance Devereux’s design aesthetic, his sense of humor and realness. I told myself whenever he comes to Atlanta to teach a workshop, I’m going! Btw, I had just found out that design workshops were even a thing! So fast forward maybe a year later, I see on Instagram that he was hosting a workshop. I texted my mom and said told her the price and told her I was going. I had no idea how I was going to afford the workshop but I had faith that God was going to make a way for me to be in that room! He had a scholarship and we had to make a video telling him why we deserved to go to the workshop. I sat in my closet and probably did close to 500 takes lol I’m not kidding! I am very camera shy but I told myself that I was not missing that opportunity and I won the scholarship. That’s what I mean by resilience. Stepping out your comfort zone because your purpose is outside of your comfort zone. I remind myself of that everyday!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to show others that they can achieve greatness when they keep going. I want to be the example that my children follows. I want them to see that no matter what happened, I kept going so they should to.
