We recently connected with Christopher Simms and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Christopher thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I’ve spent the last decade honing my craft in Southern California’s vibrant floral industry. Grateful for the mentorship I’ve received, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the artistry of creating beautiful floral arrangements.
Recently, while managing a wedding floral business for someone else, I realized my entrepreneurial dreams. If I could completely run their business, why cant I do it for myself? I have a solid understanding of the flower business, from sourcing to design, and I have made a lot of friends in the industry. So, I finally decided to take the leap and start my own wedding floral business.
With the support of my family and partner, I launched my business, URBN Flowers, and established an online presence. Leveraging my reputation and connections, I quickly secured my first client, as a preferred vendor for a wedding venue, and have been steadily building my business through partnerships with local venues and word-of-mouth.
Starting URBN Flowers has been overwhelming at times, and scary because I’ve never been a business owner before, but at the same time it feels very rewarding. I can work when I want and have complete creative control over all the designs. But also, if things don’t go as planned, its all on me, I have no one else to blame. But you can’t get the reward without the risk. Thankfully, things have been running very smooth and I am extremely grateful for all the support my family has given me. I’m looking forward to growing my business and creating alot more beautiful spaces.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi! I’m Christopher Simms, a floral lover who’s passionate about crafting beautiful arrangements. There’s nothing quite like seeing a smile on someone’s face when they receive a stunning bouquet. I have honed my skill thoughout the last 10 years, working with talented florists in San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles. After years of working for someone else, it’s now time to create my own business, and be my own boss.
URBN Flowers was born from a desire to create amazing flower arrangements while keeping the planning process stress free. I get excited about my clients wedding day, too! I love love! I believe in open communication and personalized photo mockups to ensure my clients big day is everything they’ve dreamed of. Every arrangement I make is a labor of love, designed to reflect our clients unique style and vision.
We provide full service wedding and event flowers which includes tables center pieces, bridal party flowers, bridal bouquet, sweetheart table, cake design, & ceremony florals in Orange County and Los Angeles, CA.
We prefer if clients fill out the “new client questionnaire” on our website, first, and then schedule a time to chat, whenever convenient. Be sure to have a few inspiration photos handy, so we can share your vision.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Live comfortably, be happy, work with flowers everyday, put on good music and live a good life, taking care of my family.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I feel like people know me for my friendly approach, easygoing demeanor, and positive attitude. I know people love working with me, and they remember me. Being myself and having high standards has been the most effective strategy for growing my clientele because people talk. And they say I do great work. And how easy the process was to work with me. So they recommend me to their friends, and I keep getting work that way.
