We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gotti. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gotti below.
Gotti, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
A big risk I took was going full time as a hairstylist. I’ve always been doing hair since a younger teen but professional I didn’t start until I turned 18 my senior year. I had different career paths I was going to take due to the school I went to they was big on college universities but my heart was always set on cosmetology school. I took the risk and continued to take hair seriously my senior year taking clients and building my clientele from the ground up. It was scary because it’s like choosing between a 9 to 5 or a 24/7 job and I chose the 24/7 route. Being an entrepreneur is not easy it’s like being clocked in 24/7 but it’s worth it. I’m so happy I took the risk and put my all into hair because now it allows me to live my dream lifestyle.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve always been into cosmetology since I was a little girl. Everyone including myself always knew I was going to be a cosmetologist. I fell in love with wigs during Covid and ever since then I’ve been specializing in it. I’ve experienced so many different clients, it has its pros and cons but for the most part the pros out way the cons. I’m most proud of building up my clientele from the bottom. I didn’t go to a public school growing up and I wasn’t known so I had to put myself out there a lot. It was really hard and still can get hard but I don’t let that stop me. I’ve worked with known and celebrity clients. 4 years in the game and I can say I came a long way. I’m very proud of myself and all the accomplishments I have achieved in such little time.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media by posting consistently and being myself. Showing your authentic self and being consistent is the key to making your social media grow. I didn’t have a big audience and still to this day I want a bigger audience but I’m only 4 years in so I can only image where i will be in a couple more years. Also hashtags are your bestfriend!

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
My side hustle did turn into my full time career. I was currently working as a child care teacher, then right after I got off I did hair. I loved both jobs but of course being a hairstylist was always my dream job. I took a step out on faith and went full time with hair. It was hard and i recommend you save up first but i made it with the help of God himself I got through and it was one of the best decision I’ve made in life.
