We were lucky to catch up with Skateshop Movie recently and have shared our conversation below.
Skateshop , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I took a risk making this movie completely independently! 100% grassroots funded, produced, marketed and distributed with Indie Rights. This was a passion project of mine that started in 2015. I wrote the script one piece at a time. It was quite the journey from inception to completion in Nov 2021 but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I have learned so much about making films along this tumultuous journey of making my first film – Zack Whyel
Skateshop , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have been producing videos for over 15 years. It took me over 5 years to produce my first feature film “Skateshop” this film. This was a passion project of mine that started with being a web series and ended up a feature film distributed internationally!
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Learning the business of Feature film making is extremely important before starting your first film! Also the partners who you chose to work with on the film will make or break it
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Supporting artists and creativity of every kind needs to be the backbone of our society. Art moves us in ways seen and unseen and is extremely important that we hold it in a high regard in our society. Monetizing it for the creators however we’re able.
