We recently connected with Justin Wildman and have shared our conversation below.
Justin, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I started asking myself, What if there was a space for artists to be who they truly are? No gimmicks, no restrictions—just pure expression. That’s when Lost Oasis Records was born. The name itself reflects the vision: a place that feels like a hidden paradise amidst the chaos, where artists can create freely and authentically.
It wasn’t an easy decision, though. I knew starting a label from scratch in an already saturated market would be an uphill battle. But I believed in the artists I’d worked with, and more importantly, I believed in a new way of doing things. We weren’t just solving a problem for one person; we were addressing a larger need for more autonomy and artistry in the industry.
The logic was simple: Give artists control over their music, foster their creativity, and build a community around that authenticity. It wasn’t about chasing trends or trying to fit into the mainstream mold—it was about offering something different, something real.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m [602] Prophet, but some people know me as Justin Wildman—the founder of Lost Oasis Records. It’s not just a label—it’s a space where artists have the freedom to create on their terms. We provide a platform for musicians who value authenticity and want to push boundaries. Whether it’s hip-hop, rap, or something else entirely, Lost Oasis is about giving artists control of their narrative, their music, and their future. We offer everything from artist development and production to marketing and distribution, but we’re more than just a service. We’re a movement, a community for creators who want to stay true to themselves.

How did you build your audience on social media?
We’ve been posting a variety of short form content from Behind The Scenes to Tutorials. Even though we still have a relatively small social media following, we’ve been seeing steady growth, and that’s what keeps us motivated. Social media isn’t always about instant success or going viral overnight. For us, it’s been about playing the long game—building an engaged, authentic audience over time. Growth comes from being consistent and staying patient. We’re also focusing more on what resonates with our audience, tweaking content based on engagement trends. It may not be huge yet, but every bit of growth is a sign that we’re connecting with people in a meaningful way. We know that with time and continued effort, this momentum will only build.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
We initially self-funded Lost Oasis Records through contributions from our members. We’re also exploring potential grants and are open to business credit or loans if we can secure low-interest rates. We’re part of A New Leaf’s *Assets To Opportunity* program, a 3:1 match-savings initiative that we joined about a year ago. This program, along with required financial literacy workshops, has been a great resource. It also offers an 8:1 match savings for education, which has further helped us build a solid financial foundation for the business.
