We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Macho Perez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Macho below.
Alright, Macho thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I have a song called “Not 4 $ale” featuring my daughter Mimi. This song was inspired from the movie “Sound of Freedom”. I was molested as a child, by my uncle. Unfortunately, my daughters were also molested but by my stepfather. When we saw this movie there were many emotions flowing in that movie theater. As we were leaving my daughter grabbed my hand and said Dad we should make a song. We made the song and released it with my album “Hello my name is Macho Perez” on 12/1/23. The song was immediately shadow banned on all major platforms. I wonder why?

Macho , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
1. I got in the industry mostly because I felt called to rap about something different. Soo much bad music gets promoted to our youth, I wanted to give them something better to listen to. My life story is in my music and soo many can relate to what I’ve been through.
2. I offer much more than just music. I have a podcast called Macho’s After Hours, where I interview other creatives, entrepreneurs, pastors, and anyone doing something positive in our communities.
3. One of the things that sets me apart from other artists would be my inability to want to fit in. Everyone wants to be part of the problem instead of part of the solution. When I rap I don’t rap about money or drugs or killing. I give you raw raps about real life situations and what I’ve been through.
4. I’m most proud of my boldness to tell people about Jesus whether they think it’s corny or not. I know who I was before Jesus and I know who I am now with him. Two totally different people. The person I was before was a monster, the person I am now is not.
5. Macho Perez is here to push my fans to be better. I want them to hear something in my music and want to change the way they move, I want them to see what I’m doing in my community and follow suit. We need LEADERS to change the narrative.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My ultimate goal is to reach people the way Jesus Christ does. To be an example, not with my words but with my actions. Many Christians give us a bad name when they spew hate to non-believers. When they fight on social media. When they judge instead of love. I don’t have to love what you’re doing, but I also don’t have to accept it. That’s your life. All I can do is still show you love while standing firm on my beliefs. When you look at the people Jesus hung out with, they were regular people with regular issues like the rest of us.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Never give up, even when things seem jacked up. You can’t give up. You have too many depending on your success. Too many people watching. When I first came to Jesus I thought everything was going to be all good that my addictions to drugs and alcohol would disappear. Boy was I wrong. I struggled even more and people who knew I went to church would be like “Dang son”. I was caught up and couldn’t find a way out. But then one day I completely surrendered and gave it up. And the REAL CHANGE started. My cousins started to notice I wasn’t the same. They noticed I was sober and sticking to it. Now I had the pleasure of introducing my cousin Luis to Jesus and I baptized him and now he is walking in the same freedom from addiction. Moral of the story is someone is watching even if you don’t see them.
