We recently connected with Takisha Miller and have shared our conversation below.
Takisha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Naming anything—especially a business—can indeed be challenging. The story behind the name “ElevateHer Foundation” is deeply personal and rooted in my own experiences. I chose this name because I was tired of the challenges I faced in my own life, feeling restricted and unable to move freely as I was created to. I longed for a support system that was like-minded, non-judgmental, and supportive—one that loved Jesus, loved God, and also loved life. “ElevateHer” reflects my desire to create a space where women can rise above their struggles and thrive in their faith, personal growth, and overall well-being.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those who may not have heard of me before, I’m Takisha ‘Kemi’ Miller, a personal development and transformation life coach with over 13 years of experience. I’m passionate about helping women achieve holistic well-being by nurturing their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. My journey into this field began through my own challenges and experiences. I realized that there was a deep need for women to have support systems that are non-judgmental, like-minded, and focused on growth—both personally and spiritually.
I founded the ElevateHer Foundation to meet that need, providing a space where women could thrive in their faith, self-care, and personal growth. We offer workshops, webinars, and one-on-one coaching programs tailored to help women unlock their full potential, live healthier lives, and find the balance between their spiritual and everyday lives. Through ElevateHer, we tackle issues like low self-esteem, overcoming procrastination, breaking free from toxic relationships, and finding spiritual healing.
What sets ElevateHer apart is our Christ-centered approach to personal growth. We offer tools and resources for women who love God and want to grow spiritually while also learning how to succeed in their personal and professional lives. Whether it’s through the Hey Girl Hey Conference or our coaching programs, we provide a judgment-free, empowering environment where women can grow holistically.
What I’m most proud of is seeing women transform—witnessing them step into their power, gain confidence, and elevate their lives to new levels. At the core of everything we do is the belief that true healing and growth come from addressing the whole person, not just one aspect of life.
I want potential clients and followers to know that ElevateHer is about community, faith, and real transformation. We’re here to help women break through barriers, elevate their lives, and live abundantly, just as they were created to.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Certainly! One story that stands out is from the early days of establishing ElevateHer Foundation. At that time, I was juggling multiple roles—balancing my personal life, career, and the demanding task of building a nonprofit from the ground up. It was a period of significant challenge, filled with long hours and frequent setbacks.
One particularly difficult moment was when I faced a major funding shortfall. I had put a lot of effort into planning and organizing my initial events, but unexpected expenses and financial hurdles threatened to derail everything. It was a point where many would have considered giving up.
Instead of succumbing to the pressure, I chose to rely on my faith and the supportive community I had been building. I contacted my network, shared the situation transparently, and asked for help. The response was overwhelming. Volunteers stepped up, my first donation came in from Greystone Power Foundation, and I was able to continue moving forward with the programs.
This experience taught me the true meaning of resilience and the power behind it. It reinforced my belief that faith, determination, and the right support can help overcome nearly any obstacle even when things seem bleak. It also strengthened my commitment to ElevateHer Foundation, reminding me of why I started this journey 14 years ago—to create a space where women could rise above their challenges and thrive.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots I’ve had to make recently was going from being a full-time life coach back into corporate America. For years, I was fully immersed in my passion for helping women grow spiritually, mentally, and emotionally through my coaching business. It was fulfilling, and I loved every minute of guiding women to discover their purpose and heal in various aspects of their lives.
However, life threw me a curveball. Financially, I realized I needed more stability to support my family, especially with the rising demands of daily life. As much as I loved being a coach, I had to make the tough decision to return to corporate America. It wasn’t easy—leaving behind something I had built with so much heart to step back into a structured, corporate environment felt like a step backward in some ways.
But as I transitioned back into the corporate world, I brought with me the lessons I had learned as a life coach. My perspective was different. I now saw my corporate role as an opportunity to continue growing personally and professionally, and even to impact others in new ways. It also helped me realize that pivots are a natural part of life, and sometimes stepping into a different role is necessary for personal growth and stability. It taught me resilience and the importance of adaptability, even when it feels like you’re moving away from your passion
