We were lucky to catch up with Brooke Dryden recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brooke, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Many years ago, I was diagnosed with endometriosis. By the time I turned 25, I noticed certain side effects, like my acne, had only worsened. I tried the conventional route—medications, dermatologists, you name it. But the side effects from those treatments felt worse than the acne itself. I knew there had to be a better way, so I began exploring holistic alternatives. Slowly but surely, I found relief, and it opened my eyes to a whole new world of natural remedies.
Around the same time, I was also nurturing my relationship with Jesus, making space in my life to just be with Him. But sitting still has never been my strong suit, so I began to occupy myself in the best way I knew how—working with my hands. I started learning macrame and reconnected with my love for beading. It was a beautiful fusion of creativity and calm.
That’s when it hit me—why not combine my crafty side with the holistic practices that had helped me so much? I started creating pieces that not only looked good but served a purpose. My rainbow car charms and bracelets, with the option to infuse with essential oils, became a hit, and The Little Hippie Boutique was born! Through my journey, I found a way to bring together faith, wellness, and creativity to help others embrace mindful living.

Brooke, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I own The Little Hippie Boutique because it’s more than just a business to me—it’s an expression of my journey, my faith, and my passion for holistic living. After struggling with endometriosis and finding that conventional treatments did more harm than good, I discovered the benefits of essential oils and natural wellness. That experience inspired me to dive deeper into holistic health, which ultimately became a lifestyle I wanted to share with others.
But it’s not just about wellness. I’ve always loved working with my hands—crafting, creating, and finding beauty in the small things. The Little Hippie Boutique allows me to merge that love for creativity with my desire to help others live more mindful, intentional lives. It’s a space where I can design beautiful, functional pieces, like our rainbow car charms, jewelry, keychains, essential oil blends and even hand painted totes, that not only look good but also support wellness.
Owning this boutique gives me the chance to connect with others, share my story, and build a community around self-expression, creativity, and natural living. I’m grateful for every opportunity it brings to spread joy and inspire others to embrace their inner hippie!

Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
When I first started selling my creations, Etsy seemed like the perfect platform. It was easy to set up, and I loved being part of such a creative marketplace and saying “you can find me on Etsy.” But as time went on, I realized how saturated the market was—it became tough to stand out and get noticed among so many talented makers. That’s when I decided to take a different route and set up my own Shopify store.
With Shopify, I had more control over how my brand was presented and could constantly tweak and improve my site as my business evolved. It’s been a labor of love, and while it’s incredibly helpful to have a place where I can easily direct people to shop, driving traffic to the site has its own set of challenges. Most of my sales still happen face-to-face at pop-up events and through a few local stores that carry my products. There’s something special about that personal connection you get from in-person sales, but having my Shopify store allows me to reach a wider audience when they’re ready to find me.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Owning The Little Hippie Boutique has been a journey of resilience and dedication. Even with the demands of working full-time, staying connected with my community, and the whirlwind of getting married and purchasing a home—followed by the adventure of renovating it—I’ve always found my way back to this business that I love. After taking a year off to focus on those other aspects of my life, I knew it was time to dive back in.
Since returning, I’ve hit the ground running. Networking has been key in getting my brand back out there, and it’s been incredible to see the response. I’ve had consistent in-person markets, a standing booth at my hometown’s monthly farmers market, and multiple locations have asked to carry my products in their stores. I’ve even had the chance to do a few interviews and share my journey with others.
Balancing everything hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned that with passion and persistence, and the help of my tight nit group of friend and family, anything is possible. The Little Hippie Boutique continues to grow, and I’m excited to see where this next chapter takes me.
