We recently connected with Nina Millan and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nina, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My journey into the heart of the travel industry began unexpectedly. After almost two decades immersed in design, marketing, and social selling, I decided to take a leap and become a travel agent. It was a chance to combine my professional skills with my lifelong passion for exploring the world.
However, my newfound career path quickly revealed a glaring disconnect within the industry. Many of my fellow agents, while brimming with enthusiasm for travel, lacked the know-how to effectively share their experiences and build a thriving business online. They struggled to create compelling content, engage with their audience, and stand out in the crowded digital landscape.
It was a classic problem with a missing solution.
Traditional marketing methods felt outdated, and social media, while powerful, often became a cacophony of voices vying for attention. This is what I call the “Copycat” economy, a sea of sameness that has completely blanketed social media. Travel professionals needed more than just a crash course in hashtags; they needed a comprehensive approach that merged real-world experiences with practical business skills.
The seed for Travel Creators™ was planted.
I envisioned a platform that would go beyond the typical travel agent training. It would be an immersive experience, blending the thrill of exploration with hands-on workshops in content creation, social media strategy, and personal branding. A supportive community where like-minded individuals could learn, grow, and collaborate.
This was more than just a business idea; it was a response to a clear market need.
Aspiring travel professionals were craving guidance on how to translate their passion into profit.
The industry was ripe for a fresh approach that empowered individuals to become effective storytellers and savvy entrepreneurs.
My own experience in marketing and social selling, coupled with my understanding of the travel agent’s unique challenges, positioned me perfectly to bridge this gap.
The potential impact was exhilarating. By providing travel professionals with the tools and confidence to craft captivating content, they could forge authentic connections with their audience, attract their ideal clients, and ultimately achieve greater success on their own terms.
Travel Creators wasn’t just about filling a void; it was about sparking a movement. It was about empowering a new generation of travel professionals to become not just sellers of experiences, but creators of inspiration.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My journey into the world of travel and entrepreneurship has been built on decades of experience in design, marketing, and storytelling. For over 20 years, I worked as a design director, managing millions of dollars in marketing and advertising for major brands. My career in branding taught me the importance of creating memorable, impactful stories, and that’s a philosophy I’ve carried with me into every venture since. I became a travel agent in 2018 and fell in love with the industry and how impactful it can be to change someone’s life.
In addition to my work in design, I’m also a social seller and content creator, with nearly 50,000 followers across all platforms. Through my content, I’ve been able to connect with a global audience, building authentic relationships and showcasing my passion for travel and entrepreneurship.
That blend of creative direction, marketing expertise, and digital presence is what led me to co-found Travel Creators™. It wasn’t just about booking travel—it was about revolutionizing how people share their travel experiences and build a brand around it. Travel Creators is a platform designed to help people turn their passion for travel into a paycheck by blending the roles of travel agent and content creator. Our community learns how to monetize their adventures, craft compelling content, and partner with top brands—all while exploring the world.
What sets me apart, both as a person and in business, is the depth of experience I bring from my design and marketing background. I know what it takes to build a brand from the ground up, how to market effectively, and how to create content that resonates. This isn’t just theoretical knowledge—I’ve been in the trenches, managing campaigns for major brands and working directly with creative teams to deliver real results. Now, I’m using that expertise to help others do the same with their own personal brands.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built at Travel Creators™. We’ve created a space where people can share their love of travel, learn how to monetize their content, and grow together. We’re not just teaching people how to sell travel—we’re teaching them how to become confident, skilled storytellers who can inspire their audiences and make an impact.
For potential clients, followers, or fans, I want them to know that I’ve walked this path. I know the challenges of balancing a 9-5 job, pursuing your passions, and building something meaningful on your own terms. Through Travel Creators™, we’re helping people cut through the noise, find their voice, and create a business and lifestyle they love. This is about more than just travel—it’s about living authentically, building a personal brand, and achieving the freedom to live life on your own terms.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for us has undoubtedly been early-stage entrepreneurs who are eager to build something meaningful for themselves. Many of them come to us through word-of-mouth and our growing presence on social media, where they see the success stories from people just like them who’ve turned their passion for travel into a thriving business. What’s so impactful about helping early-stage entrepreneurs is that we’re meeting them at a critical moment—they’re full of potential but often overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices and uncertainties. We provide them with a clear path and the tools they need to not only succeed but to grow beyond what they initially thought was possible.
Since the pandemic, we’ve seen a massive shift in how people view work and income. More people than ever are turning to entrepreneurship as a way to create a stable side income, or even to completely pivot from their traditional careers. The uncertainty of the job market made it clear that relying on a single income stream is risky. Entrepreneurship offers freedom and flexibility, but it also offers control—something many people felt they lost during the pandemic.
What we focus on at Travel Creators™ is not just helping people become travel agents, but helping them become content creators. This is essential because the travel industry is evolving quickly, and technology—especially AI—is changing the landscape. In the coming years, parts of the traditional travel agent role will likely be automated, which is why we’re preparing our members to future-proof their careers. Content creators offer something that AI can’t replicate—authenticity, storytelling, and the human touch. By teaching our members how to build a brand and create engaging content, we’re giving them a skill set that will continue to be in demand, no matter how much technology advances.
It’s this blend of entrepreneurship, content creation, and travel that makes our approach so effective. We’re empowering people to create multiple income streams, and in doing so, we’re helping them build a future that’s not just secure but also deeply fulfilling.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
When it comes to managing a team and maintaining high morale, my biggest piece of advice is to meet people where they are. Everyone on your team is at a different stage in their personal and professional journey, so it’s crucial to understand their individual goals, challenges, and strengths. By doing that, you can tailor your leadership approach and provide the support they need in a way that feels personal and effective.
One of the key things I’ve learned is to give my team easy systems to follow—systems that duplicate. When you provide a clear, step-by-step framework that anyone can follow, it not only makes their work easier but also boosts their confidence. They know exactly what needs to be done and how to do it, which removes the guesswork and keeps things moving smoothly. The beauty of these systems is that they can be replicated by anyone, so as the team grows, everyone is on the same page, working toward the same goals.
Another important aspect is empowering your team at every stage of their development. Whether someone is just starting or they’re more experienced, it’s important to acknowledge their growth and give them the tools to keep progressing. This could be through mentorship, offering new challenges, or simply recognizing their achievements along the way. When people feel empowered, they’re more engaged, more motivated, and more likely to take ownership of their role within the team.
I also believe in making the learning process relatable and fitting it into their lives. If you can show your team how their work aligns with their personal goals, passions, and daily routines, it makes the process more enjoyable and meaningful. This approach is especially effective when it comes to training and onboarding—rather than overwhelming people with information, I focus on integrating learning in a way that feels relevant to their life and their journey.
Finally, being informal and relatable goes a long way in building trust and maintaining morale. I try to create an environment where people feel comfortable being themselves, asking questions, and even making mistakes. I don’t believe in being overly formal or rigid—people connect with you more when you’re real, approachable, and understanding. At the end of the day, a team that feels supported and seen will always perform at their best.
